Hypixel Studios, the developers of Hytale, aim to work closely with the community throughout the game’s development. That shows not only in their approach to mods, but also in the ways players can submit and upvote feature requests. Whether those features will make it in is, of course, up to the developers in the end. Still, it reflects an open stance toward community suggestions. We dug through the submissions to see which features are most requested — and who knows if, and when, they’ll make their way into the game!

Hytale fishing: A fishing system with loot and treasure

Almost every good survival game includes a fishing mini‑game. It lets you catch tasty fish — and probably the occasional treasure. Right now, you can use fish traps to get the job done, but that’s likely not everything Hytale’s rivers, ponds, and oceans have to offer. There are already different fish across biomes; you just can’t do much with them yet.

The concept art you see when starting a world even shows a character fishing. That’s not a confirmation, of course, but it does suggest the feature was on the table. We think it’ll find its way into the game sooner or later.

Hytale boats and traversal: Vehicles, jetpacks, and wings

Hytale boats and modes of transport on the ocean

The most requested feature at the moment is boats. They already exist in Hytale, and you can even find some in Exploration mode, but you can’t use them yet. They don’t float, let alone carry you across the waves to another island. Since the models are already in the game, it may just be a matter of time before they’re fully implemented.

Beyond that, Hytale could benefit from other forms of transportation. Some older concept art shows intriguing ideas, including classic jetpacks, a kind of propeller pack, and mechanical wings. These are just concepts, but they hint that Hytale’s traversal could end up feeling quite different.

Hytale automation: Mechanics or magic for farming and crafting

Automation is also high on the site’s request list. The big question is whether it will come at all — and if it does, how it will fit into Hytale’s lore. In Minecraft, there’s Redstone; Hytale will ultimately need its own approach that makes sense for its world.

One path would be a mechanical solution, for example with pulleys or windmills. On the other hand, Hytale also features magic, which could power automation as well. We’ll have to wait and see which route the developers take, if any.

Hytale weather system: Rain, wind, snow, and environmental effects

Hytale weather effects like rain wind and snow that influence the environment

Hytale already has weather, but it’s fairly simple right now. It rains occasionally, and it may get foggy. There aren’t any direct gameplay effects, and the weather can shift from one state to another in seconds, which breaks immersion.

The community sees far more potential here. Rain could water fields, wind might power a windmill, and snow could accumulate so you can shovel or harvest it. Lightning could provide electricity, and sandstorms could make desert life tougher. There’s definitely room for Hytale to shine.

Hytale skill tree and leveling: Progression and specialization

A leveling system — possibly with an accompanying skill tree — is also frequently requested. We covered mods that add exactly this in another article (Hytale Mods: 7 Best Mods for a Fresh Gameplay Experience) . A well‑designed system like this could help set the game apart.

A skill tree can make your progress less dependent on materials, resources, and tools. It also encourages players to focus on and advance different playstyles. This might be an even better fit for the upcoming Adventure mode, where your personal journey takes center stage. For now, there are no concrete details on how that mode will be implemented.

Hytale graphics and performance: LOD rendering and view distance

Less common, but still important, are technical requests. Players have asked for a different rendering approach based on LOD (Level of Detail) rendering. If you play Minecraft, you might know this from the popular “Distant Horizons” mod. Such a system would let you see much farther, boosting immersion while using fewer resources than cranking up render distance.

This would be especially fitting once World Generation v2.0 arrives. Technically, the developers are currently working on Cubic Chunks to improve performance, which could also pave the way for LOD rendering.

Hytale NPCs and a quest system: Reputation, factions, and quests

Hytale already features peoples like the Kweebecs and Ferans, but they don’t have much direct impact on gameplay yet. Aside from selling a few recipes, there isn’t much to gain. The community sees major potential here to pull you deeper into Hytale’s world.

More interactions with NPCs could greatly enrich the game. Think quests and tasks, a reputation system, or even joining a particular NPC faction. That could enable a whole ecosystem that makes Hytale feel alive and expansive — though that’s the kind of feature that can take years to fully realize.

Conclusion: Hytale’s development and a look ahead at community features

Hytale’s development is still in its early stages, due in part to a turbulent production history. But community ideas are front and center, with their own dedicated page on the website. We expect many of the most‑requested features to make it into the game over time. From fishing and weather to a deeper NPC system, there are plenty of ideas that could help Hytale stand out from the competition.

If you want to get involved in Hytale’s development and play with friends, we recommend renting one of our Hytale servers (https://www.4netplayers.com/en-us/gameserver-hosting/hytale/)! That way you can play every new update right away, report bugs, share ideas and feature requests, and help the developers improve the game.
