Mods were central to Hytale even before the game launched. According to the developers, they’re meant to be a key part of the community, and modding itself should be as simple and intuitive as possible. In just a few months, well over 5,000 mods have appeared, adding tons of great features to the game. From a full-blown RPG system to new regions and animals, modding already brings plenty of variety while we wait for more updates. If you want to know how to install mods and which essential ones we recommend, check out our other post .
Hytale RPG Mod MMO Skill Tree & Abilities: Skill Tree and Abilities

Hytale already has several mods that add an RPG system. In our showcase, we chose MMO Skill Tree & Abilities because it’s updated regularly and improved with new features. If you’re missing a deep character system in Hytale, this mod is perfect for you!
With this mod, you can improve almost any skill in the game, from mining underground minerals to your proficiency with weapons. Every activity in the game grants experience points you can use to level up your character. That makes your actions more effective and can grant you additional bonuses! You can also unlock MMO-like abilities and use them in combat. Hytale feels far more complex, with clear incentives to explore, build, and fight.
Hytale Endgame and Quality of Life: Dungeons, Bosses, and Mounts

Right now, you can progress in Hytale from copper up to adamantite, but things can get dull after that. That’s where Endgame & QoL comes in—a mod that adds quality-of-life features plus a whole set of activities for the late game.
Test your skills in dungeons and defeat new bosses that challenge you with increasingly difficult phases. Step through portals, explore new areas, and take on exciting challenges. You’ll also find arena battles that push your endurance! At the same time, the mod introduces mounts you can ride and that assist you in combat. As a player, you can also complete tasks and earn rewards from a pool of around 130 additional items.
Expand Hytale’s Wildlife with WildTale: Safaris, Zoos, and New Species

Hytale doesn’t really lack diverse fauna—there are plenty of animals to discover across the different biomes even without mods. But WildTale cranks things up and adds over 200 new creatures to the game!
The world feels even more alive, and you can go on safari to find every new species. From small insects like butterflies, to dozens of new bird species, all the way to large animals like elephants, monkeys, and pandas—this mod has everything an animal lover could want. You’ll find these creatures everywhere, from the wide plains of the Emerald Wilds to the jungle beneath Zone 4.
Hytale Weapons Mod: Wan’s Wonder Weapons for New Combat Styles

Hytale already offers a solid selection of weapons, but some players may find that gets stale over time. With Wan’s Wonder Weapons, you can collect rare weapons and try combat techniques the base game doesn’t provide.
While some weapons—like the selection of daggers—are evolutions of existing types, there are also brand-new and very powerful pieces of gear to discover. These include a giant anchor, a Void scythe, and a massive greatsword. Many of the weapons are magical, letting you burn, freeze, or otherwise hinder enemies. With the additional Zephyr mod, you also get better movement and can unlock new special abilities.
Hytale Movement Mod Zephyr: Ninja Mobility and Ziplines

Perfectly compatible with the previous mod, Zephyr takes your freedom of movement in Hytale to a new level! Your character becomes far more mobile, moving faster and more efficiently across the world of Orbis. The mod also offers extensive customization options so you can tune the experience to your playstyle.
These acrobatic moves are tied to two new weapons: Kunai and Karambit. Depending on your upgrades, you can perform different moves and become much more agile in combat. Kunai enable quick and sometimes unseen movement patterns with a teleport function. With the karambit knife, you can perform double jumps, dashes, and wall jumps. The mod also adds ziplines to get you from A to B faster.
Hytale Dungeon Mod: Major Dungeons via Ancient Portals

If you enjoy straightforward dungeon crawling, Major Dungeons might be the mod for you. It uses the existing Ancient Portals, letting you generate and explore new dungeons again and again. You’ll also face many new enemies and find new weapons that keep Hytale’s combat fresh.
Right now, the mod offers three different dungeons to choose from. In the Dungeon of Fear, you’ll fight your way forward and defeat increasingly stronger bosses to unlock new weapons. But if you fail, you have to start over! You might, however, find a mysterious merchant who can help you out.
Hytale Mounts Mod: Tame and Ride with Traveling Mounts

Lastly, let’s look at Traveling Mounts, another mod that gives Hytale’s animals a fresh twist! It doesn’t add new species, but it lets you tame existing animals and use them as companions on your adventures. You’re not limited to the default mounts either—you can ride several other animals.
Besides horses, you can have wolves, foxes, goats, antelopes, and even bears as companions. Capture any animal with the Capture Crate and place it in the world to tame it. After that, you can ride it, feed it, and even use it as extra inventory space! This mod is perfect for players who love having an animal companion.
Conclusion: Hytale mods are a cornerstone of the community
While Hytale itself receives weekly updates, the modding community is just as active, bringing exciting features into the game. From fully fleshed-out RPG systems to helpful animals and new late-game challenges, there’s truly something for everyone! It’s worth scrolling through CurseForge to discover new mods. Official modding contests also provide major support for the active community, making it even better.
