Earth-type Pals are often overlooked and underestimated. Apart from a few exceptions like Anubis, which is mentioned again and again, other Earth Pals are rarely brought up. They may not be as strong as some other types, but they have their own talents and advantages. These shine especially when gathering ore and wood. Used correctly, Pals of this element can excel in other areas, too. Earth Pals are quite versatile and can be found and trained throughout the game. While some work in your base, others are great for riding and gathering. Today we’ll take a closer look at which ones those are!

Palworld Earth Pals: Strengths, weaknesses, and effects

Palworld Earth Pals: strengths, weaknesses, and status effects like Muddy and Electrified

Earth-element Pals are vulnerable to Grass-type attacks. In turn, they are strong against Electric, letting them cover some particularly dangerous Pals in battle. Most Earth attacks can also inflict the “Muddy” effect on enemies. This makes Pals slower and less susceptible to Electric attacks. Earth Pals themselves are immune to this, as well as to the “Electrified” effect. They can therefore be slotted into teams very strategically.

Many Earth Pals are variants of other types and carry the Terra suffix. Roughly a third of all Pals also have a secondary type—most often Grass, but sometimes Water or Ice. These combinations make Earth Pals very flexible, which is especially useful in multiplayer. Rent a Palworld server now and turn the Earth element to your advantage!

Best Earth Pals for combat and defense in Palworld

Best Earth Pals for combat and defense in Palworld

Pure attack power isn’t where Earth Pals shine, but thanks to their toughness you’ll find some of the best defenders here. Pals of this element have high defense and lots of HP, which can be just as important in battle as raw damage. Some also stand out thanks to their partner skills.

Our top 5 Earth Pals:

  1. Anubis: Arguably the most famous Pal and the strongest Earth Pal in terms of attack. Can dodge more easily and also converts your attacks to the Earth type.
  2. Knocklem: The Earth Pal with the highest defense, which it can further boost with its skill (along with its attack).
  3. Gildane: May not jump out at first glance, but has well-rounded, strong stats. Its riding skill also converts your attacks to Earth.
  4. Mammorest (Cryst): Absolutely unmatched in HP, even compared to other Pals. Its attack and defense, however, are a bit lower.
  5. Reptyro (Cryst): Actually has slightly more defense than its regular variant. A solid mid-game Pal.

A few other fighters deserve a mention. Warsect (Terra) and Menasting (Terra) are also strong Earth Pals. Both additionally boost your defense, a hallmark of this element. A Dumud can, on the other hand, increase the attack of Earth Pals. Gorirat Terra can temporarily boost its own attack and defense thanks to its skill, making it very powerful. Lastly, Robinquill Terra reveals enemy weak points, letting you deal more damage.

Earth Pals as workers: mining, woodcutting, and base organization

Earth Pals as base workers: mining, woodcutting, and production

Earth Pals also do great work in your base, as many of them offer at least three work skills. Anubis is likely the best here as well. But plenty of others pull their weight—most workers even reach a high level of 3 or 4. Some stand out with even more options, including Warsect, Cryolinx Terra, Robinquill Terra, and Dumud. Most Pals excel at mining, which naturally fits the Earth element.

We want to highlight Dumud and its Gold variant if you rely on your ranch more often. Both produce High-Quality Pal Oil, an important resource in the game. Dumud Gold can also gather Gold Coins, similar to Mau.

Earth mounts in Palworld: gathering, riding, and speed

Earth mounts in Palworld: gathering ore and wood, riding benefits, and speed

Almost all Earth-type mounts stay true to their element and focus on ground travel. Unfortunately, they don’t always keep up with other Pals here, but several still stand out with their partner skills. We’ll highlight a few of them—many are specialized in resource gathering.

The best Earth mounts are:

  • Rushoar is one of the first mounts in the game and can break rocks.
  • With Reptyro (Cryst) you move very slowly, but you can mine ore more efficiently.
  • Mammorest is also quite slow, but can help you gather both ore and wood.
  • Eikthyrdeer Terra is faster and can perform a double jump. It’s also good at woodcutting.
  • As the only non-ground mount here, Hanguy serves as a glider, letting you hover higher.
  • Aside from Gildane, Dazemu is the fastest Earth Pal, becoming even quicker over sandy terrain.

Useful partner skills: farm ore and increase carry capacity

Useful partner skills from Earth Pals: find ore veins, mine faster, and carry more

To wrap up, let’s look at Pals we haven’t covered yet. There’s a great combo among Earth Pals if you want to gather ore without relying on mounts. Fuddler can locate ore deposits more easily thanks to vibrations. Once you’ve found them, Digtoise can help you mine ore faster. Finally, Surfent Terra lets you carry more ore thanks to its carry capacity bonus while it’s in your team. These three Pals work wonderfully together.

If you want to carry crude oil instead, Kikit can reduce the weight of oil barrels so you can haul more. In a different area entirely, Prixter helps when you get lost in dungeons and need to find an exit. Lastly, Turtacle Terra both lightens your armor to increase your carry capacity and boosts the attack of Earth Pals in battle.

Conclusion: Earth Pals are sturdy defenders and excellent resource gatherers

Earth Pals stand out in combat thanks to their high defense and large health pools. Don’t underestimate them—and consider using others besides Anubis. Outside of combat, they focus on resource gathering, primarily ore, but also wood. Some Pals help directly, while others need to be used as mounts. When it comes to hauling, several Pals can make your life a lot easier by letting you carry more.
