Thanks to the extensive skill tree and a huge selection of weapons and gear, you can put together your very own character in Enshrouded. With the latest updates, most builds have been fundamentally reworked once again and now offer more individuality than before. But which weapons and fighting styles can you actually specialize in? For newcomers to Enshrouded this can be a bit overwhelming, because the choice is huge. That’s why today we’re looking at the six most common builds that might be right for you. We’ll cover weapons, gear and fitting skills. Of course, you can always experiment, reset your points, farm new weapons or mix fighting styles!

Tank Build in Enshrouded: Massive Damage with Two-Handed Weapons

One of the best strategies in Enshrouded is to use a strong two-handed weapon and simply deal as much damage as possible. It’s important that you can take a lot of damage yourself while staying mobile. Above all, boost your health so you don’t die too quickly.

You can choose from four weapon types here:

  • Two-handed swords
  • Two-handed axes
  • Two-handed hammers
  • Two-handed clubs

The weapons mainly differ in their damage patterns, but partly also in their animations. Some of them were improved once again with version 1.0, which makes two-handed builds even better! Which weapons are especially worthwhile is shown in our guide (Enshrouded Melee Guide: Best Weapons, Shields & Skills) .

One downside of this build is that you have no direct defense. Since you hold your weapon with both hands, you can’t carry a shield. You may also be a bit slower and have to time your hits carefully before you dodge. Try out different weapon types and see which ones you like best. Invite your friends too, ideally on a rented Enshrouded server, and find the best builds together.

These skill tree branches suit the tank:

  • Tank
  • Barbarian
  • Athlete
  • Warrior

Mage Build with Small Wands: Agile and Flexible

With the release of Enshrouded, the small wand has become much better, mainly thanks to its new skills. They now allow more mobility and agility. You can jump, dodge better and handle your wands better overall. The build is already available in the early game.

One advantage of small wands is that you don’t need ammunition. The wands themselves are each tied to specific attacks and elements. At the same time, you can still use a shield if you want to defend yourself better. This build has hardly any real downsides. At most, it could become a little monotonous at some point because you become very strong. You can find more about wands and spells in our guide (Enshrouded Mage Guide: Best Weapons, Skills & Spells) .

These skill tree branches suit the small wand mage:

  • Battlemage
  • Trickster
  • Wizard
  • Healer

Bow Build: Sharpshooter with Critical Hits

Besides magic and melee, you can of course also go for a bow build. There are many options here as well, and this fighting style mainly keeps you at a distance from enemies. Good bows and the resources for crafting arrows only pay off from the mid game onwards, but after that you’re well set up as a sharpshooter!

There’s now much more choice when it comes to arrows, including new infinite sets that give you more flexibility. Bows can also be geared towards elemental damage, which allows you to specialize. With ranged combat you can also stun enemies well and react faster. Critical damage is extremely important too! We present the best bows and arrows in our guide (Enshrouded Ranger Guide: Best Bows, Arrows, Skills, and Build Tips) .

The downside is that you only unlock the infinite arrows very late and have to make sure you have enough ammunition until then. At the same time, you’re vulnerable to damage and can’t defend yourself as well.

These skill tree branches suit the sharpshooter:

  • Ranger
  • Assassin

Assassin Build with Daggers: Sneaking to the Critical Hit

The many knives and dual blades in Enshrouded also rely on the highest possible critical damage. They stand for a sneaky fighting style in which you use damage from behind to take out unsuspecting enemies quickly and quietly. This already works well in the early game, but loses effectiveness over the course of your adventure.

Some daggers focus more on sneak damage, while others boost your critical hits. You can play them both offensively and defensively. Their downside is their comparatively low damage. Which skills boost your sneak attacks is covered in our article (Enshrouded 1.0 Skills: The 10 Best Abilities for Every Player) .

These skill tree branches suit the assassin:

  • Assassin
  • Ranger
  • Beastmaster
  • Survivor

Mage Build with Large Staffs: Elemental and Summoning Spells

As a mage, you can also use large staffs. Here, however, you have to craft different spells and use them deliberately in combat. This only pays off from the mid game, once you have enough materials. Then it can become one of the strongest builds in the game, even if it’s a bit more static and less agile than the small wands.

Basically, you can choose between elemental magic and summoning or mix both. The spells include fire, ice, lightning, poison, bone, Shroud, mana and healing spells. They offer different attack patterns, which gives you lots of variety. You can summon skeletons and totems that fight for you.

This build isn’t for everyone, as you’re always vulnerable and still have to keep a certain distance from the enemy. A lot of movement and tactics are needed. Switching between spells can also be a little annoying.

These skill tree branches suit the large staff mage:

  • Wizard
  • Trickster
  • Healer
  • Battlemage

Warrior Build: Classic Sword and Shield

If you prefer to keep things simple, use a one-handed weapon and a shield. This creates a good balance between damage and defense and is easy to understand for every player. Still, the style is varied, because just like the tank you can choose between swords, clubs and axes.

In the early and mid game, such a warrior is a good choice. Later, however, your damage might no longer be quite enough, just like with daggers. As a warrior, you’re also not quite as flexible, since you basically always fight with a shield and your one-handed weapon.

These skill tree branches suit the warrior:

  • Warrior
  • Athlete
  • Tank
  • Barbarian

Conclusion: Enshrouded Offers Many Exciting Build Options

Enshrouded offers you a whole lot of builds. You don’t always have to focus on just one weapon, but can mix skills as you like and go your own way. Especially towards the end of your journey or against tough bosses, however, it pays to specialize in one path to get the most out of it. How best to spend your points in the skill tree is explained in our guide (Enshrouded Skill Tree Guide: All Skills, Builds, and Tips) . But we also encourage you to experiment and test your own combinations. After all, you never know what you might like. And since enemies can be very different, variety is always a good thing!
