Water Pals are extremely diverse and can be used for many purposes. They’re the second most common group right after the Dark type, so it’s no surprise they’re very varied. Some are great fighters, while others excel at specific base jobs. Water Pals also shine when it comes to a particular kind of mount in Palworld. If you want to do a single-element run, Water is hard to beat. There are very few weaknesses that would limit your gameplay. Let’s take a look at all the Water Pals currently in the game!

Palworld Water Pals: Strengths, weaknesses, and status effects

Palworld Water Pals strengths and weaknesses at a glance

Due to their nature, Water Pals are weak to Electric-type attacks. In return, they’re strong against Fire, which is only logical. They are also immune to the “Burn” status effect, since they can’t catch fire. Water attacks can inflict the “Wet” status, causing the target to take double Electric damage and half Fire damage. Water Pals are immune to this as well.

Water Pals will accompany you from the very start to the end of your Palworld journey, so get familiar with them early. The best way to discover them is with friends on your own server. Rent an affordable Palworld server now (https://www.4netplayers.com/en/gameserver-hosting/palworld/) and jump in together! Beyond the obvious aspects, they also come with special abilities that become useful later in the game—especially if you plan to go fishing.

Palworld best Water Pals for combat: Top 5 and builds

Best Water Pals for combat in Palworld

Water Pals are a solid choice in combat. Many have base stats over 100 and tend to specialize in particular fighting styles. Even early on you’re well covered, and they can hold their own against other Pals. In the late game there are several that absolutely deserve a spot on your team—especially when you’re facing Fire.

Our Top 5 Water Pals:

  1. Neptilius: One of the strongest Pals in the game, with high Attack. When fighting together, it strikes with its lance.
  2. Jormuntide: Focuses more on lots of HP and can tank a ton. Its Attack is also fairly high.
  3. Suzaku Aqua: Shines with a large pool of HP and is great for the mid-game. Needs to be bred from Suzaku and Jormuntide.
  4. Ghangler Ignis: An extremely underrated attacker; the Ignis variant is even a tad stronger. Its dual typing sets it up well.
  5. Faleris Aqua: An all-around solid combat Pal that also lets you obtain more Fire loot.

Water Pals are also happy to support you in battle—sometimes they even become weapons themselves. That’s the case with Pengullet and its bazooka. Fuack charges in with a Body Slam to clear enemies, and Relaxaurus uses a rocket launcher while mounted to back you up.

Goblin also has a special attack of its own, but its enhanced ability is even better: the more you have on your team, the stronger the player’s Attack becomes. Perfect for a no-Pal build. And let’s not forget Teafant and its healing abilities—excellent support!

Water Pals as workers in your base: Watering and farming

Water Pals working to water your fields

Water Pals are practically essential at your base. They specialize in one work category you should always keep covered: thanks to their element, they’re excellent at watering your fields. You can use almost any Water Pal here, depending on your game progress. We also recommend keeping a Jellroy and a Jelliette at the base. Together, they speed up watering.

There are a few solid general workers among Water Pals, too. Penking is once again a top-tier worker Pal, but Croajiro and Jellroy are also good choices, each with four work skills. On a ranch, you can deploy Dumud Gild to farm High-Quality Pal Oil and a bit of Gold. Kelpsea, on the other hand, is great for collecting Pal Fluids.

Water Pals as mounts: Swimming, flying, and gliding

Fast Water mounts in Palworld for swimming and flying

This element doesn’t lack for mounts either. Most of them excel not on land, but in the water. If you want to explore the seas around Palpagos Island, these Pals are your best bet. Here and there you’ll also find other exciting abilities that are worth a look.

The best Water-type mounts include:

  • Surfent and later Jormuntide can swim without consuming stamina, which is extremely handy.
  • Azurobe is the perfect swimming Pal for the mid-game and is fairly fast.
  • Neptilius is arguably the best water mount: it’s fast and can jump high.
  • If you’re after a strong flying Pal, Faleris Aqua is the best Water choice.
  • For your glider, we recommend Celaray, as it also boosts your gliding speed.

Croajiro isn’t a mount, but its ability helps you overcome tricky terrain. It can inflate its belly and act as a trampoline. Don’t underestimate this skill.

Partner Skills of Water Pals: Carry weight and fishing

Among the remaining abilities, two categories stand out. First is increasing your carrying capacity for different things. While Broncherry Aqua focuses on your overall inventory, Turtacle reduces the weight of your armor and Finsider reduces the weight of your weapons.

The last group consists of Pals you should take fishing. We already have a full guide on it (Palworld Fishing Guide: Rods, Bait, Spots, and Loot) if you want to learn more about the mechanic.

  • Jellroy: Increases salvage yields at sea.
  • Jelliette: Increases item yields specifically when fishing.
  • Gloopie: Slows the gauge drain while fishing when the bar isn’t over the fish.
  • Ghangler: More Pals bite at night.
  • Whalaska: The catch bar starts partially filled and fills faster.

Conclusion: Use Water Pals for swimming, watering, and fishing

When it comes to diversity, Water Pals are hard to beat. Many are strong fighters and make perfect companions throughout the entire game. They’re especially handy when you want to traverse water—use Water mounts to your advantage, particularly those that don’t consume stamina. Along the way you can also fish up a few Pals and make use of several Partner Skills, while the rest of your Water Pals keep your fields well watered back at the base.
