Your gear in Valheim often decides how fights turn out. It’s not just about armor and weapons—you can also equip additional accessories that lend you their power. The Call to Arms update added one such option: the Trinkets. These items are handy helpers in combat and can be swapped to match your playstyle. They also introduced a new kind of energy: you can only activate them with enough Adrenaline in combat. The more you build up, the more effectively you can deploy Trinkets in battle.

Valheim Trinkets and Adrenaline in combat: introduction and how they work

Valheim Trinkets and adrenaline bar in combat explained

Trinkets are small accessories you can craft from various items. They occupy a separate slot in your inventory and can be equipped there. Only one Trinket can be active at a time, but it doesn’t block other items you can equip in your inventory. You craft them at the Forge, with some later Trinkets requiring the Black Forge. It’s worth investing in these stations early. In the mood for co-op? Rent a Valheim server with friends and try the Trinkets together! You can choose from 13 different Trinkets in combat.

Once you fight with a Trinket equipped, you can gain Adrenaline during combat. It appears as an orange bar beneath your stamina bar. Different actions in combat fill this bar. Depending on the accessory, it takes varying amounts of time to fill. Once the bar is full, the Trinket activates automatically and the bar empties. At the top right next to the map, where you see all other status effects, you’ll also see a timer for the Trinket.

In longer fights, it can activate multiple times. If you stop gaining Adrenaline or the fight ends, the bar starts draining slowly after 10 seconds.

These actions build Adrenaline:

  • +10 for using your Forsaken Power
  • +5 for a parry
  • +5 for a dodge
  • +3 for staggering an enemy
  • +2 for blocking with a shield or weapon
  • +1 for a one-handed block
  • depending on the weapon, between +1 and +3 Adrenaline points
  • depending on the magical weapon, between +1 and +12 Adrenaline points

All 13 Trinkets in Valheim: costs, crafting, and effects

Crafting Valheim Trinkets at the forge

There are 13 different Trinkets you can craft throughout your journey in Valheim. They unlock based on the biome and the materials you’ve found. Check your crafting stations (Forge/Black Forge) regularly to discover new accessories you can make. We’ll go through all regions and when you can obtain them at the earliest.

Valheim Black Forest and Ocean Trinkets: swimming and regeneration

Fins of Fate

  • Adrenaline cost: 10 for 120 seconds
  • Effect: +50% swim speed and -80% stamina drain while swimming
  • Usefulness: Only worth it if you plan to swim a lot. Boats are the far better and more comfortable option otherwise.

Heart of the Forest

  • Adrenaline cost: 50 for 60 seconds
  • Effect: +25% health regeneration
  • Usefulness: Not essential, but can be handy in emergencies when you’re low on HP.

Bronze Pendant

  • Adrenaline cost: 50 for 60 seconds
  • Effect: +25% stamina regeneration
  • Usefulness: Definitely the better of the two Black Forest Trinkets. Stamina is generally more valuable than HP—as long as you don’t get hit.

Valheim Swamp Trinkets: speed and defense

Iron Brooch

  • Adrenaline cost: 65 for 30 seconds
  • Effect: +50 HP and +20 armor
  • Usefulness: Great if you prefer a defensive playstyle. You’ll withstand much more, which suits a tank build.

Swift Anklet

  • Adrenaline cost: 60 for 30 seconds
  • Effect: +50 stamina and +15% movement speed
  • Usefulness: Often the better pick of the two Swamp Trinkets. Stamina remains more important than raw health here as well.

Valheim Mountain Trinkets: ranged combat and resistances

Wolf’s Gaze

  • Adrenaline cost: 55 for 30 seconds
  • Effect: Bow and Spear skills +20, +10% pierce damage
  • Usefulness: Especially strong in this biome if you use ranged weapons—your damage increases noticeably.

Crystal Heart

  • Adrenaline cost: 80 for 50 seconds
  • Effect: Resistance to piercing, blunt, and slashing damage
  • Usefulness: Also very strong for reducing incoming damage. It just takes a bit longer to charge.

Valheim Plains Trinkets: blunt weapons and evasion

Bracers of the Brave

  • Adrenaline cost: 85 for 60 seconds
  • Effect: +100 HP, Club skill +20, and +10% blunt damage
  • Usefulness: Absolutely worth it if you fight with a club or other blunt weapons.

Cloak of Evasion

  • Adrenaline cost: 60 for 120 seconds
  • Effect: -50% stamina cost for dodging, +50% parry bonus, and Dodge skill +20
  • Usefulness: Likely the stronger choice to avoid or minimize damage outright. It lasts two minutes, and parries or dodges also build Adrenaline, so it rarely runs out.

Valheim Mistlands Trinkets: magic and stamina

Pulsing Earrings

  • Adrenaline cost: 65 for 60 seconds
  • Effect: +25% Eitr regeneration
  • Usefulness: Magic is one of the strongest combat styles in Valheim, making this Trinket extremely useful for quicker spellcasting.

Echoing Shackle

  • Adrenaline cost: 75 for 60 seconds
  • Effect: +100 stamina and +10% slashing damage
  • Usefulness: The Trinket for classic sword-and-shield fighters. Both effects give you a great boost in battle if you’re not using magic.

Valheim Ashlands Trinkets: magic and stat boost

Jörmundling

  • Adrenaline cost: 70 for 60 seconds
  • Effect: +100 Eitr, +20 to Elemental Magic and Blood Magic skills
  • Usefulness: If you want to keep playing as a mage, this is almost indispensable. It gives you the Eitr you need and strengthens your spells at the same time.

Brimstone

  • Adrenaline cost: 100 for a brief effect
  • Effect: +100 HP and +100 stamina
  • Usefulness: Less generally useful, but it can save your life in a real pinch. Its effect is only short-lived.

Conclusion on Valheim Trinkets and Adrenaline in combat

Trinkets are a great addition to Valheim’s combat and can be deployed in many situations. Build the corresponding Adrenaline bar during a fight to activate their effects.
