The Ice element in Palworld has some of the fewest Pals and is structured quite differently from the Shadow or Dragon elements covered so far. You won’t necessarily find the strongest Pals here, but in return you’ll discover many Pals with unique abilities for a wide range of other activities. So don’t underestimate this element—there are good combos to build, excellent workers, and exciting mounts to find. Let’s take a closer look at Ice Pals, what they can do, and where you should use them.

Palworld Ice Element: Strengths and Weaknesses in Combat

Palworld Ice element with strengths and weaknesses in combat

Ice-type Pals are vulnerable to Fire-type attacks, which likely makes sense to most players. Ice attacks themselves are strong against the Dragon element. There are currently 28 Ice Pals in the game, some of which carry the Cryst suffix and originate from other types. As a result, a few Pals have mixed types, but most are pure Ice.

Ice Pals are heavily underrated in combat and therefore used less often. Change that by renting one of our Palworld servers and going on the hunt for the best Ice Pals there. They’re great companions and offer a lot of variety. Share your knowledge with friends on the server and leverage Ice-type Pals to your advantage.

Best Ice Pals in Combat: Top Fighters and Ice Builds

Best Ice Pals in Palworld combat with powerful skills

As mentioned in the intro, Ice Pals aren’t necessarily the strongest fighters. Sure, there are a few that can keep up, but compared to other elements, Ice tends to lag behind. One major advantage, however, is that Ice attacks can freeze enemies, temporarily disabling them. Keep that in mind.

Our Top 5 Ice-type Pals:

  1. Bastigor: One of the best fighters, can be ridden and then uses an Ice Hammer in battle.
  2. Frostallion: A flying Pal that not only converts your own attacks to Ice but also boosts all Ice attacks. Has the best stats of all Ice Pals.
  3. Icelyn: Boasts high Attack and also converts your attacks to Ice.
  4. Vanwyrm Cryst: Ride this Pal to exploit enemy weaknesses and deal more damage.
  5. Whalaska Ignis: Has slightly more Attack than its pure Ice variant, with overall well-balanced HP and Defense.

Although the type is generally on the weaker side, several Pals come with compelling combat skills. Frostplume can increase your reload speed when it’s on your team. Foxparks Cryst, Pengullet, and Jolthog are available fairly early and can be used as weapons in combat. Loupmoon Cryst and Sibelyx, on the other hand, unleash their own powerful Ice attacks. And with Foxcicle, you can increase the overall Attack of your team’s Ice Pals.

We also have to mention Swee and Sweepa—an extremely strong combo. A team of four Swee and one Sweepa can clean house, because the more Swee on the team, the stronger Sweepa’s Attack becomes.

Ice Pals as Base Workers: Cooling, Farming, and Flexibility

Ice Pals working in a Palworld base with cooling and farming

Ice Pals play an important role at your base—something only a few types can claim. All of them can provide cooling, keeping food fresh. This is essential to keep you and your Pals well-fed. You can assign these Pals however you like.

There’s also a wide selection of Pals with three or more work skills. We recommend Penking, Wumpo, Cryolinx, and Icelyn. They can lend a hand almost anywhere and are highly flexible. If you need ore, ride Reptyro Cryst. Mammorest Cryst, on the other hand, is perfect for farming wood.

Ice Pal Mounts in Palworld: Fastest Ground, Glide, and Flying Pals

Ice Pals also don’t lack for solid mounts. They’re diverse, and you’ll find a suitable Pal for almost every movement type within this element. Let’s look at a few standouts known for their speed or unique abilities.

The best Ice-type mounts are:

  • Chillet was already mentioned under the Dragon type, as it’s the best early-game ground mount. Quick, easy to catch, and very versatile.
  • Hangyu Cryst is a glider Pal that lets you slowly float upward.
  • Polapup is generally slow but runs faster on snow and can slide down slopes with a bit of momentum.
  • Bastigor is the fastest Ice-type land Pal, though it can’t quite keep up with the fastest mounts from other elements.
  • Azurobe Cryst should be used in water—besides Jormuntide and Neptilius, it’s the fastest swimming Pal.
  • Frostallion is, aside from Jetdragon, the fastest flying Pal and doesn’t consume Stamina.

Ice Pal Partner Skills: Carry Capacity and Cooling

Useful Ice Pal partner skills like carry capacity and cooling in Palworld

First up is Mau Cryst, which can collect Gold Coins for you at a Ranch. It also appears more frequently than its normal counterpart. If you’re exploring hot regions, we recommend Reindrix as a mount. It keeps you nice and cool—even when you’re surrounded by lava.

If you want to carry more, use either Kingpaca Cryst or Wumpo. Both can carry your luggage, increasing your maximum carry weight. In terms of unique abilities, we also have to mention Whalaska (Ignis). It’s a fantastic helper for fishing, as it not only increases the initial catch bar but also fills it faster. You shouldn’t go fishing without Whalaska.

Finally, don’t forget Munchill—it has a very special ability. While on your team, it can store food in its mouth and keep it cool for a longer time. That means your provisions spoil more slowly while you’re on the move. The skill isn’t useful in every situation, but it’s still worth remembering.

Conclusion: Use Ice Pals in Palworld Smartly

Even though Ice Pals aren’t the best fighters, you still shouldn’t underestimate them. There are several strong Pals with good partner skills for combat. They’re even more effective at your base, where they can provide cooling and handle many other tasks. The type also offers plenty of mounts. In addition, many Pals have special partner abilities you can take advantage of in other situations.
