Many of Palworld’s older systems received a fresh coat of paint with the full release. Breeding new and powerful Pals, for example, remains fundamentally the same but now includes numerous small extras and tweaks. These let you breed and hatch new eggs much more precisely and ultimately obtain the strongest Pals. Palworld 1.0: new cakes for breeding — effects and recipes
Previously, cake was the only food that would make Pals reproduce. That left little variety, so the system got an upgrade. You can now bake four additional cakes to leverage different effects and get the most out of your breeding. You unlock them as recipes in the Technology tree, but only from the mid-game onward.
- Mushroom Cake (Tech level 30): Hatched Pals have higher stats and better potential.
- Veggie Cake (Tech level 47): Pals lay two eggs at once.
- Exquisite Veggie Cake (Tech level 60): Mutations occur more often, at around 3% of eggs.
- Special Cake (Tech level 74): Increases the chance that parents’ passive skills are inherited by the child.
Ancient Breeding Facility in the endgame: rapid egg production and auto-hatching
Much later in the game, at level 76, you can unlock a new Ancient Breeding Facility. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to hatch a lot of eggs. The machine automates virtually every step. Simply assign two Pals, select the appropriate cake, and off it goes.
Eggs are produced every second and immediately hatched. You don’t need a separate incubator, nor do you have to pick up eggs manually. The ancient machine is a compact combination of all key functions. However, it requires valuable resources to craft: 100x Pal Metal Ingots, 50x AI Cores, 30x Ancient Parts, and 30x Ancient Cores.
Palworld partner skills for breeding: faster hatching and Alpha Eggs
Some Pals help streamline the process and maximize your results. The values of several partner skills have changed, and a new Pal has been added. Note that some skills do not combine with the Ancient Breeding Facility; they only apply when you pick up eggs manually.
- Grintale: Increases the chance you pick up two eggs at once.
- Broncherry and Broncherry Aqua: Make picked-up eggs turn into Alpha Eggs with a certain chance. Broncherry Aqua is slightly more effective.
- Braloha: Increases egg production speed at a base.
- Dynamoff: New in version 1.0, reduces incubation time.
Mutations in Palworld 1.0: breed the strongest Pals and raise your odds
The biggest change is mutations that can occur when breeding new Pals. They help you get the most out of your lineup and create the strongest creatures. You can’t directly control them, but several methods can increase your chances. In general, mutations occur between 0.5% and 1% per egg. With the Exquisite Veggie Cake, this rises to around 3%. You can recognize the egg by its distinct color: it’s purple with strange patterns.
When mutations occur, they offer the following benefits:
- A completely different Pal can hatch, unrelated to the parents. It’s often stronger.
- The hatched Pal has at least two rainbow passive skills. Sometimes they’re inherited from the parents; sometimes they come from the exclusive pool of skills.
- Pals have IVs between 90 and 100, providing an excellent base for strong stats. You can see these hidden numbers with the Glasses of Aptitude (Technology level 34, 4 Ancient Points).
- Mutated Pals come pre-condensed with two stars, saving you 12 Pals. The Pal Essence Condenser has been rebalanced overall. Stars improve partner skills and work suitability levels.
- The hatched Pal is always an Alpha Pal, making it larger and stronger than normal Pals.
- The Pal is guaranteed to learn a strong attack for its type.
- One work suitability is increased by +2 levels.
New exclusive passive skills in Palworld: only through breeding
Five new passive skills were added for mutations, most of which you can only obtain via breeding. They’re all rainbow-tier and extremely powerful.
- Babysitter: If a Pal in your base has this skill, egg laying rate and egg incubation time are sped up by 30%.
- Immortal: Grants three effects: Lifesteal +5%, Attack +15%, and natural HP regeneration +100% (this Pal only).
- Anomaly: Immune to poison damage and burn damage. Also +25% defense and natural HP regeneration +50% for both player and Pal.
- Bulwark: Immune to explosion damage.
- Skyrunner: For mounts. Increases the number of jumps while riding by +2.
Once these skills are on a Pal, they can be inherited further. There are also single-use implants for the Surgery Table that grant these special passives. They’re intended for one-time use and are therefore very rare.
