Palworld: Are server mods possible with 4Netplayers?
Our Palworld servers run on Linux. Installing mods, Workshop packages, and additional mod loaders is not yet possible on Linux servers.
Why are there mod guides online anyway?
Other guides may refer to a local game client or a self-hosted Windows server. Pocketpair currently documents the official server-side Workshop mod method only for Windows dedicated servers. That does not carry over to your Linux Palworld server. Source: Official Palworld mod documentation.
An FTP login does not change that. Uploading mod files does not enable mod support. Switching to Advanced Mode only affects configuration and does not turn the Linux server into a Windows server.
What can I change without mods?
Many adjustments are already possible through the normal server settings. For example, you can adjust experience and resource yields, change breeding time, or choose a different death penalty.
The guide Change Palworld server settings shows how to set these values. No mod installation is required.
Does this also apply to mods on my own PC?
A local client mod is different from a server mod. It is installed on your own device, not on our server. This does not imply that it is compatible with our server or with your teammates’ game versions.
If you have connection issues with a modified client, try joining with an unmodified client. The guide Check connection issues helps with further troubleshooting.
Can I migrate a save that requires server mods?
A save that requires server mods is not suitable for our Palworld offering. Do not simply delete the mod files and upload the save unchanged. Keep the original and use a version that works without server mods.
For such a save, you can find the process under Transfer Palworld savegame.
