Arma 3 is a tactical military simulation from Bohemia Interactive. The game was announced in 2011 and first launched as an Alpha via Steam Early Access on March 5, 2013. Version 1.0 followed on September 12, 2013 as the full PC release. Arma 3 thus became one of the early, prominent examples of a game developed publicly through Steam Early Access and successfully released.
Bohemia Interactive built Arma 3, the successor to the long-running Arma series, on Real Virtuality technology. At launch, the large maps Altis and Stratis, multiple factions, vehicles, weapons, multiplayer scenarios, the editor, and extensive mod support were already center stage. The campaign was expanded after release in episodes, while platform updates, expansions, and DLCs continued to grow the game for many years.
For server players, Arma 3 is especially noteworthy because it thrives on custom missions, Workshop mods, community scenarios, and DLC content. Alongside official expansions, Creator DLCs such as Global Mobilization, CSLA Iron Curtain, S.O.G. Prairie Fire, and Spearhead 1944 are particularly relevant, as they add their own factions, maps, vehicles, and missions.
Arma 3 isn’t a traditional, fast-paced shooter, but an open military sandbox focused on tactics, communication, and teamwork. Players traverse large islands, plan operations, employ infantry, vehicles, air support, and reconnaissance, and often need to coordinate over long distances. This leads to engagements that rely less on reflexes and more on positioning, preparation, and coordination.
A core component is the editor. With it, you can create custom missions, co-op scenarios, training sessions, PvP modes, or full campaigns. Together with Steam Workshop, mods, and community units, this is what keeps Arma 3 strong to this day: many servers aren’t just simple play sessions, but bespoke military scenarios with established rules, roles, and mod sets.
Multiplayer is where Arma 3 shines. Groups can plan regular operations, rotate missions, use mods, play DLC scenarios, and assign admin rights selectively. On your own server, you keep the environment under control: you decide which mods run, which mission loads, what difficulty is active, and who has access to admin commands.
With 4NetPlayers, you can rent your own Arma 3 server and tailor missions, mods, Creator DLCs, and settings to fit your group. In this wiki, you’ll find the right guides if you want to install mods, upload your own missions, use admin commands, adjust difficulty, or start DLC missions.
