In the icy Deep North, the right food can make all the difference. During your adventure you will find new crops to cultivate, as well as new berries you can cook into tasty dishes. These are the best in Valheim, so it is worth finding and gathering these new plants. Drink oat milk or berry juice, make pancakes, or always keep some delicious moose meat in your bags. As always, you can choose foods focused on HP, Eitr, or Stamina to match your combat style. There are new upgrades for the cauldron too. With our guide, you will never be hungry again.

Valheim Deep North: find new plants and ingredients

Valheim Deep North plants and ingredients at a glance

Even in the Deep North you can still find several plants that you can then use to grow useful ingredients. Keep an eye out for these four: lingonberries, kale, oats, and Poteitr. Together they make tasty, nourishing dishes. Here is where to find them and how to plant them.

Finding and harvesting lingonberries in the Deep North

  • HP: 35

  • Stamina: 35

  • Eitr: -

Like raspberries and blueberries, you can find lingonberries on bushes in the Deep North. Thanks to their red color, they stand out against the white and blue surroundings. They can also drop from captured Fulings or hexagonal slimes in Morkhalla.

Lingonberries are a small snack for in between, not a full meal. We recommend placing markers on the map where you can pick berries. That way you can find them again when they respawn. You will need them for some of the recipes below. Especially in multiplayer, it helps to always have enough berries. You can rent a Valheim server and remember the berry bush locations for you and your friends.

Growing and harvesting kale in Valheim

  • HP: 35

  • Stamina: 35

  • Eitr: -

Kale is another key ingredient that you can grow yourself. You can find kale in the Deep North, often as a green plant poking through the snow. You can collect the relevant seeds that way, and also find them as loot in some chests. Unlike berries, kale does not regrow in the wild.

You will need to plant it yourself. Kale only grows in the Meadows, Black Forest, Plains, or Ashlands. If you want to learn more about farming in Valheim, check out our article (Valheim Farming Guide: Fields, Crops & Cultivation) . Per harvest you receive 3 kale.

Finding oats, planting them, and milling them into oat flour

  • HP: 33

  • Stamina: 33

  • Eitr: -

You can also find oats in the Deep North. Search the chests in abandoned villages to find seeds. Like kale, you must plant them in the Meadows, Black Forest, Plains, or Ashlands and wait for them to grow. You can use the harvested oats in some dishes, or you can mill them into oat flour in the windmill.

Poteitr in Valheim: magical potato for Eitr recipes

  • HP: 35

  • Stamina: 35

  • Eitr: 35

Poteitr is a play on the words potato and Eitr, so it is essentially a magical potato. You can find seeds in abandoned villages in the Deep North and later plant them in one of the four biomes (Meadows, Black Forest, Plains, Ashlands). Thanks to its magical properties, this Viking potato is used in dishes that increase your Eitr. More on that below.
