How to install mods on my Factorio server

Factorio mods are installed as ZIP files. Upload the ZIP files unchanged and do not extract them.

Important: You need to use an FTP client such as FileZilla or WinSCP.

The server and players must use the same mods in the same version. The mods must also be compatible with the Factorio version being used. Otherwise, the server may not start or players may be unable to join.

Install mods on the server

  1. Download the desired mods. The files must be in ZIP format.
  2. Stop your game server via the web interface and wait until it has fully stopped.
  3. Connect to your Gameserver-FTP. You can find the login details in the FTP overview by clicking FTP.
  4. Open the /mods folder in Gameserver-FTP. If the folder does not exist yet, create it.
  5. Upload the mod ZIP files directly into the /mods folder. Do not extract the ZIP files.
  6. Start your game server again via the web interface.

The mods are loaded when the server starts. Each player must also have the same mods in the same version in their own Factorio game.
