From music discs and pottery sherds to mob heads, there are plenty of collectibles to complete. It’s another goal in the sandbox classic and a great way to get to know many places in your world.
Find Minecraft music discs: Locations, farms, and jukebox tips
Minecraft’s music is almost as iconic as the game itself. Its gentle tones are a staple and often play in the background. With music discs, you can also play several tracks manually in a jukebox. Music discs are actually one of the game’s oldest features, and new music is added with nearly every update—so your collection will likely never be truly complete. Most discs feature soundtrack tracks, but there are also eerie ones like “13” or “11”.
Some discs can be found in structures such as dungeons, Ancient Cities, or Trial Chambers. However, most are obtained only when a skeleton kills a creeper. Then use a jukebox to play them; different discs emit different redstone signals.
Minecraft smithing templates: Find and duplicate all armor trims
Smithing templates are another exciting collectible, letting you trim your armor. There are 18 in total, each tied to specific in-game structures. Every template has a unique pattern and is purely cosmetic—it won’t make your armor stronger. There’s a lot of room for creativity: not only are the patterns distinct, but the colors are also defined by the metals and gems you use.
A complete set looks impressive and isn’t easy to finish. Most templates are fairly rare, and you’ll likely have to scour many structures to find them all. Minecraft banner patterns: Templates, crafting, and locations
Banners are an often overlooked Minecraft feature that’s especially fun for creative players. You can dye regular banners in all 16 colors and apply geometric designs. This is where the 10 different banner patterns come in. Combine them at the loom with dye and a banner to create a unique design.
Most patterns can be crafted yourself—for example, the Mojang logo using an enchanted golden apple and paper. But there are three you can only find in structures. The final pattern can be purchased from a cartographer.
Minecraft goat horns: Get every variant and use them well
Less well-known are goat horns, which you can use as a horn instrument. There are eight variants. You can obtain them when goats ram into a solid block and drop a horn. Goats can spawn with two, one, or no horns, and can only drop as many as they have—up to two per goat.
Four of the eight goat horns can also be found as loot in Pillager Outposts; the remaining four drop only from screaming goats. Horns can be played as instruments and produce different calls that can be heard over 256 blocks, depending on your render distance.
Farm Minecraft heads: Get mob heads and use them right
While some heads, like those of Wither Skeletons or the Ender Dragon, occur naturally, others only drop under certain conditions. Heads from regular skeletons, zombies, creepers, and piglins only drop if they are killed by a charged creeper. Creepers become charged when struck by lightning. You can trigger this manually during a thunderstorm using a trident with the Channeling enchantment.
Mob heads are mostly decorative, much like hunting trophies. You can also wear them, which makes the corresponding mob notice you from a shorter distance. You’ll also need a creeper head and a Wither Skeleton skull to craft two of the banner patterns. Additionally, they can be used for fireworks.
Minecraft pottery sherds: Archaeology, locations, and pots
Finally, let’s highlight pottery sherds, which you can use to craft decorated pots. Each pot uses four sherds, or you can swap in regular bricks to create smooth sides. They make great decorations, and you can also hide items inside.
