Palworld isn’t just the overworld—you can also dive into the deep caves of the Palpagos Islands to hunt for treasure and Pals. That’s exactly what dungeons are for! They’re separate pockets within the archipelago that let you explore and find great loot. But they’re no cakewalk—tough Pals are waiting for you inside. So come prepared and gear up yourself and your Pals before you attempt a run. To help you do just that, we’ve put together a complete guide so you head into dungeons with the right equipment and mindset.

Palworld Dungeons: Explanation, Layout, and Mechanics

Palworld dungeon explained: cave entrance, layout, and mechanics

Dungeons in Palworld are separate cave sections scattered across the map. You can spot entrances along walls and head inside whenever you feel like tackling a dungeon—you won’t stumble into them by accident, so you can choose your adventures. Depending on the biome, entrances look different. In total, there are eight distinct dungeon regions whose difficulty varies by area and level.

Once inside, you’ll find yourself in a cave. The layout can change based on the location, but they’re generally not too confusing. Unfortunately, you don’t get a map. Dungeons often consist of large, round rooms with several branches leading off in the cardinal directions, which then connect to new rooms.

You’ll mostly face Pals inside—some of them even appear exclusively in dungeons. There’s also a boss, meaning you’ll regularly run into Alpha Pals. A few human enemies roam the caves as well. Along the way, you can pick up items, mine ores, and open chests to fill your inventory.

One important detail: you can’t farm dungeons infinitely. There’s always a cooldown of several hours before loot and items respawn. Small items and Pals, however, return more quickly. You can also leave a dungeon at any time if you want to take care of something else.

All Palworld Dungeons: Locations, Levels, and Pals

Palworld dungeons overview: locations, levels, and Pals

There are eight different dungeon variants spread across the Palpagos Islands. Their looks, entrance locations, resident Pals, and available items differ—and of course, dungeons get tougher with each new region. Come well prepared!

Most areas have multiple entrances—some are easy to find, others are tucked away. If you’re hunting for one, we recommend the Pal Leezpunk and its partner skill, which helps you detect dungeon entrances and guides you to them.

Exclusive Palworld dungeon Pals: Mau and Killamari

Exclusive Palworld dungeon Pals: Mau and Killamari

Currently, there are only two Pals you can find exclusively in dungeons: Mau and Killamari. Both appear only in the early dungeons, so you can track them down and catch them fairly quickly to round out your collection.

  • Mau is inspired by an Egyptian cat and shines for one thing in particular: gold coins. Assign Mau to a ranch and it will steadily generate gold for you.
  • Killamari is a floating octopus-like Pal and one of the few Pals that lets you glide. It extends your glider’s flight time, making it a great early-game choice.

Best dungeon items in Palworld: drops and rewards

Palworld dungeon items: loot, chests, and ores

Naturally, you can also find cool and important items in dungeons. The tougher the dungeon and its boss, the more valuable the rewards. We can’t list every single item—the pool includes hundreds—but some categories stand out.

Item types you can find in any dungeon:

  • Blueprints for armor and weapons, scaled to the dungeon’s level
  • Lotus Flowers to sell
  • Gold coins
  • Various ores and other mining resources
  • Training Manuals
  • Technology Manuals
  • Accessories with different effects
  • Tech Fruits to teach Pals new attacks
  • Applied Manuals to improve work skills
  • Gems, such as diamonds or rubies
  • Treasure maps
  • Clay shards to start raids

Conclusion: Palworld dungeons for rare loot and unique Pals

Dungeons are a great challenge, especially since they’re a little different every time you enter. Pals rotate and the layout shifts, too. You’ll regularly find rare items, and you can also farm Alpha Pals—either for XP or to add them to your roster. We recommend exploring every dungeon variant and grabbing whatever rewards you can. You never know what you’ll find.
