Valheim: How to connect directly to the server

You can connect to your server directly from the game or through Steam.

In-Game

1. Start your game.
2. Click on ‘Start Game’ and select your character.
3. Click on ‘Start’.
4. Click on ‘Join Game’ and then on ‘Join IP’.
5. Enter your IP address along with the port, for example:
   123.45.78.90:2456
6. Click on ‘Connect’ and enter your password when prompted.

Steam

You can connect to your Valheim server directly from Steam. Follow these steps:

1. Click on ‘View’ at the top of Steam, then select ‘Servers’.
2. Choose ‘Favorites’.
3. Click on ‘Add a Server’ at the bottom right.
4. Enter your server’s IP address with the port. For Steam, you need to use the port shown on our website +1.
   If the port on our website is 2456, you need to use 2457 in Steam. The entry should look like this:
   123.45.67.89:2457
5. Click on ‘Find Games at this Address’. If the server is not immediately found, click on ‘Find Games at this Address’ again until the server appears.
6. Click on ‘Add Selected Game Server to Favorites’ at the bottom.
7. Close this window and click on ‘Refresh’ at the bottom. Again, you may need to click on ‘Refresh’ multiple times.
   Now you can connect to your server by double-clicking on the entry.
   You will need to enter your password twice, once in Steam and once after selecting your character.

Note: After logging in for the first time of the day, Steam may display “Server not responding”, which is normal.
You can still connect to the server, and Steam will update the status accordingly.
