Palworld’s 1.0 release is finally set for July 10, 2026, bringing a huge number of additions and changes that will feel overwhelming even for active players. And since Early Access began in January 2024, plenty has already changed that will surprise returning players, too. From mechanics to new Pals to extra island clusters, there’s a lot to discover alongside the brand-new content. If you stopped playing shortly after the initial hype, you’ll now find a game that feels almost completely new. That’s exactly why we put this guide together: so you can jump straight into 1.0 and also enjoy earlier content with a fresh coat of paint.
1. Explore Palworld 1.0’s new islands: Sakurajima and Feybreak

If you only played Palworld right after release, the map will look completely different. You can explore new islands and regions, with different Pals, new materials, and secrets. The two biggest updates added the Japan-inspired island Sakurajima and the darker landmass Feybreak. The Pals there are especially worth a look—many are strong and have unique partner abilities. You’ll also need to hunt down new resources to make use of many of the new items.
A map expansion is also planned for version 1.0. How big it is and what it includes isn’t known at the time of writing.
2. Start a new save and use the Pal Box
Both the developers and we recommend starting a new save for the upcoming release. That way you’ll experience all the new features naturally and organically. But don’t delete your old save. You can still hop back in and use the new global Pal Box to transfer your favorite and strongest Pals to a new save.
If you prefer playing with friends and want to start fresh in 1.0, rent a Palworld server for friends and your community. A fresh start here is especially worthwhile to easily experience all past updates, new Pals, and technologies. For custom settings, be sure to use the world settings, which have also become much more robust.
3. Unlock technologies: gear, mounts, weapons, and production
Technologies are your path to unlocking new items and recipes in Palworld. A lot has changed here since release—not only because the level cap was raised. Many previous tiers received a range of new items, and there are also more points to earn. With 1.0, this will likely see further improvements, overhauls, and expansions.
Key technologies include:
- Expansion Bag for increased inventory space
- Sphere Modules to fine-tune capture rates
- Gear with special abilities like double jump and dash
- Goggles of Aptitude to identify Pal strengths
- New mount gear
- New weapons
- Upgraded workbenches, conveyor belts, and machines
4. Palworld fishing: Pals, rods, bait, and loot

Fishing is a fairly new mechanic in Palworld that returning players may not know yet. You can not only reel new Pals out of the sea but also salvage to find rare items. At your base, you can set up a fish pond for passive fishing. Alongside different fishing rods and bait, there are also new Pals whose abilities help with fishing. Learn more in our article: (Palworld Fishing Guide: Rods, Bait, Spots, and Loot) .
5. Building in Palworld 1.0: new building system, styles, and colors

Base building is a core part of Palworld and it has also received a fresh coat of paint—literally. Across the updates, many new building pieces and styles were added, including a Japanese style, metal, and glass. Since the latest 0.7 patch, you can also customize your base colors.
A major change is the menu layout. You no longer have to dig through a clunky radial menu; you can now access a well-organized list that makes building much simpler. With version 1.0, more changes are already announced, such as building over water.
6. Power up your Pals: surgery table, Yakumo, aptitude, and Skill Fruits
Naturally, your Pals’ combat power is another important aspect that has changed a lot over the last two years. Beyond classic level-ups, there’s much more you can do to get the most out of your Pals—especially useful for new bosses and regions.
Boost your Pals with:
- Pal Surgery Table + implants: Change your Pals’ passive skills
- Yakumo: Find and catch Pals with strong passive skills
- Goggles of Aptitude: Reveal your Pals’ hidden potential
- Skill Fruits: Teach Pals different attacks
7. Palworld Arena: NPC battles, rewards, and tickets

The Tides of Terraria update added a new way to test your strength. Head to a specific island and enter the Arena to fight NPCs with rising difficulty. You can enter as early as level 20, but the challenges quickly ramp up. Victories grant rewards and Arena Tickets, which you can exchange in the associated shop. Learn more about the arena in our guide: (Palworld Arena Guide: Challenges, Best Teams & Rewards) .
8. Expeditions in Palworld: farm resources and earn rewards
The Feybreak update also introduced a very important new feature that returning players should absolutely use. With Expeditions, you can send Pals out to gather various resources. The stronger your Pals, the more rewards you’ll receive.
You unlock a new expedition after each tower boss, and after Hard Mode you even get an improved variant. These harder expeditions focus on specific items, such as Spheres, Pal Souls, or crafting resources. We already have a guide for you here: (Palworld Expeditions: Best Pals, Rewards, and Tips) . Since 1.0 will likely add a new tower boss, we can probably expect new expeditions as well.
Conclusion on Palworld 1.0: Is a fresh start worth it?
Coming back to Palworld for the 1.0 update can feel extremely overwhelming—almost like a new game. Even before that, the game changed significantly with many additions that day-one players might have missed. Of course, there are many new Pals to discover, but also exciting mechanics that make your adventure on the Palpagos Islands even better. We strongly recommend starting a new save to experience all changes organically. You can transfer your old Pals via the global Pal Box.
