Your base is a crucial hub in Palworld. It’s where you can store resources, build a home, and put your Pals to work. But there are so many jobs they can handle that a single base often isn’t enough. Thankfully, with the Palbox you can upgrade to as many as four bases, and the game also lets you raise this in the settings to up to 10 bases. You can also adjust how many Pals are allowed per base, as long as your PC can handle it. All bases are always loaded. So, what can you do with all these locations? Let’s look at some of the best specialized setups.

Palworld Resource Base: farm materials efficiently

The first—and arguably most important—base for any playthrough is dedicated to gathering resources. You’ll likely keep and expand this one for the entire game as you unlock more tech. Early on you’ll mainly gather stone and wood, but later you’ll add ores, sulfur, coal, and even Hexoquartz. Make sure you have plenty of Pals with Mining. A circular layout works great: mines around the edge, with beds, feed, and a hot spring in the center.

Palworld Breeding Base: hatch perfect Pals

Breeding is another essential part of Palworld. It lets you obtain and multiply rare Pals and raise new, powerful companions. Parents often pass their Passive Skills on to their offspring, enabling you to breed some of the strongest Pals. You can find more in our guide (Palworld Breeding Guide 2026: Breeding Farm, Incubator, and Cake) , but in short, a dedicated breeding base is a must. Over time you’ll unlock better incubators that match an egg’s specific conditions.

Palworld Expedition Base: send Pals out and farm loot

At Technology Level 15 you unlock the Expedition Center, where you can send your Pals on adventures to gather resources and items. New expeditions unlock after you defeat a tower boss—see our article (Palworld Tower Bosses: All 7 fights with levels, locations, and tips) . You’ll need stronger Pals as you progress, but you’ll also earn better rewards. Check each expedition’s requirements and send your strongest Pals—many expeditions favor a specific type. Some yield excellent rewards. Each expedition is different, so prioritize what you need most.

Palworld Crafting Base: produce items, medicine, and food

A base focused purely on production is highly recommended. In Palworld you can craft at various workbenches and even automate with conveyor belts. As you progress, you’ll unlock more options to ramp up throughput. Crafting Pal Spheres is especially worthwhile so you always have enough for catching new Pals—and later you can sell them for gold. Set up weapon and armor stations so you’re always geared with the best equipment. Pharmacy facilities are great for making Pal medicine. Use furnaces for metals and glass, and handle food at your cooking stations.

Palworld Storage Base: central warehouse and logistics

You’ll also need a place to store everything you collect. While small local stashes in each base help, a large, central warehouse is a great idea. Starting at Level 41, invest in the Guild Chest, which lets you transfer items between all your bases. This hub is best for resources you don’t need every day—things you want to stash and save for later.

Palworld Ranch: ranch Pals and passive item production

On the ranch you can assign certain Pals to search for or directly produce items. Outputs include milk, eggs, and honey, but also Pal Spheres and even gold. It’s an easy way to passively stock up. You’ll also need gatherers and chests to collect and store the goods. Otherwise, a ranch runs with almost no input from you. If you’re hunting down every Pal, we’ve got the perfect list: (Palworld Ranch Guide: All Ranch Pals & Best Item Farms) . You don’t need every single Pal, but catching them all can pay off.

Palworld Raid-Boss Base: defense and boss fights

We also recommend a separate base dedicated to raid bosses. Before each raid you can choose to fight in a base or in a separate arena. We suggest fighting in a dedicated base: raid fights can easily level a base, and a purpose-built outpost lets you prepare optimal defenses. Station your strongest Pals there and use structures for layered defense. In a base you’re far more mobile and control the terrain—huge advantages.

Conclusion: multiple bases for maximum efficiency in Palworld

We hope this helps you distribute tasks across your bases more effectively. It pays to set up locations for different purposes and, if needed, raise the base limit in the settings. You can subdivide roles even further to assign Pals more precisely. Not every base has to be jam-packed—it’s often easier to stay organized when tasks are separated. If you increase the number of bases and Pals, always keep your PC’s performance in mind. And make sure your Pals stay happy.
