Conan Exiles is an open-world survival game set in the universe of Conan the Barbarian. It was developed and published by Funcom, specifically the team at Funcom Oslo. The game was announced in January 2016 and entered Steam Early Access on PC on January 31, 2017. After roughly 15 months in Early Access, Conan Exiles launched as a full release on May 8, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. On May 5, 2026, Conan Exiles Enhanced followed as a major free Steam update to Unreal Engine 5.
Funcom designed Conan Exiles as a brutal survival game with base building, crafting, and both PvE and PvP servers. Even in Early Access, the focus was on the Exiled Lands, hunger, thirst, resources, combat, clans, and building your own fortresses. Leading up to the full release, the team added new biomes, dungeons, enemies, religions, crafting systems, and technical optimizations.
For server players, this evolution is especially important because Conan Exiles thrives on custom worlds, mods, DLC content, and savegames. Isle of Siptah later introduced an official expansion with its own island, while community maps like Savage Wilds enable additional server scenarios.
Conan Exiles Enhanced isn’t just a small graphics upgrade—it’s a broader technical modernization of the game. Funcom migrated Conan Exiles from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. Key improvements include modern lighting with Lumen Global Illumination, Nanite geometry, Virtual Shadow Maps, visual overhauls, and performance improvements. For players, that means a noticeably more modern look across the Exiled Lands and existing content such as buildings, gear, characters, and DLC assets.
Enhanced also matters for servers and modding. After release, on May 19, 2026, Funcom shipped the first larger Enhanced Patch 1.1.0. Among other things, it improved server browser performance, saved filters between sessions, aligned ping values more closely with actual network latency, and reduced issues when loading large mods on dedicated servers. If you play Conan Exiles with mods, Isle of Siptah, or Savage Wilds, you should verify that the server, client, and your mods are compatible with the Enhanced version.
You begin as an exile in a hostile world and must survive with simple tools, food, and water. From stone, wood, iron, and later rare materials, you’ll craft weapons, armor, workbenches, and fortified bases. As you progress, enemies, bosses, and environments become tougher—but so do your options for building, combat, and exploration.
Conan Exiles puts a strong emphasis on freedom. You can play solo, join a clan, build PvE bases, prepare for PvP sieges, or add new systems, maps, and quality-of-life features with mods. Custom servers are especially flexible, as you can tailor rules, mods, maps, and savegames to your group.
Conan Exiles shines in multiplayer. Multiple players can gather resources, build outposts, prepare for dungeons, fight bosses, and construct a grand fortress together. On your own server, your world keeps running 24/7, and you decide whether you want a cooperative, roleplay-focused, or competitive experience.
With 4NetPlayers, you can rent your own Conan Exiles server and keep your world running with friends around the clock. In this wiki, you’ll find the right guides to install mods, upload a savegame, back up a world, launch Isle of Siptah, or use Savage Wilds on your server.
