How to set passwords

Would you like to play alone with your friends on your StarRupture Server?
We explain which steps are required.

Info: The admin password is currently only used for the Servermanager.
For security reasons, it is currently disabled.
Important: The server only accepts passwords as a hash.
You can generate it on the following page: https://starrupture-utilities.com/passwords

Server password

  1. Stop your server
  2. Open the following page: https://starrupture-utilities.com/passwords
  3. Enter your password in the following field: Player Join Password
  4. Click Encrypt
  5. Then click Copy Hash Only under PlayerPassword.json
  6. You must now insert this into your server settings:
    • In Basic Mode under Server Settings -> Server Password
    • In Advanced Mode in PlayerPassword.json between the empty ""
  7. Click Save
  8. Start your server

Admin password

  1. Stop your server
  2. Open the following page: https://starrupture-utilities.com/passwords
  3. Enter your password in the following field: Admin Password
    The password must be at least 6 characters long.
  4. Click Encrypt
  5. Then click Copy Hash Only under Password.json
  6. You must now insert this into your server settings:
    • In Basic Mode under Server Settings -> Admin Password
    • In Advanced Mode in Password.json between the empty ""
  7. Click Save
  8. Start your server
