In Palworld, you’re spoiled for choice with over 150 different creatures you can add to your base and your team. It’s no surprise that, after nearly two years, players have settled on the best Pals for various tasks. But plenty of creatures get overlooked even though they’re secretly excellent. Forget Anubis—focus instead on Pals that not everyone uses. Who knows what cool abilities you’ll discover? We take a closer look at eight of these underrated Pals.

Palworld guide to underrated Pals for team, combat, and base

Menasting in Palworld: Tough defender and work Pal

Location: Northern Stone Fields, Southern Sandbank, Wildlife Sanctuary No. 2

Menasting is often overshadowed by others in its category, yet it has a lot going for it. While the mechanical scorpion isn’t the easiest to find and catch, once it’s on your team it’s one of the best defenders in combat. It also boosts your defense and makes Electric Pals drop more items. It’s great for felling trees and mining too, if you’d rather put it to work at your base.

Astegon in Palworld: Unbeatable miner and flying mount

Location: Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3

Astegon is often underrated—despite its eye-catching black-and-pink design. Its kit also holds up. Astegon is a flying mount that lets you gather more ore. With Mining level 4 it’s hard to beat, and it can work at night. Its combat stats are excellent, as is its Dark/Dragon typing.

Sootseer in Palworld: Top attacker with powerful Fire moves

Location: Dancing Sakura Shrine

Sootseer shimmers with violet flames and is one of the best-looking Pals. It’s often overlooked, yet its offensive stats can compete with some of the best in the game. It also learns powerful Fire moves naturally. As a worker, it’s strong too, offering a broad spread of five work skills (Kindling, Gathering, Handiwork, Mining, and Farming) at various levels. Its partner skill can also net you more Bones when you need them.

Nitemary in Palworld: Farm more Souls with solid stats

Location: Southern Feybreak Island

Nitemary is not only one of the most beautiful Pals, but it’s especially worthwhile for its partner ability. It grants you more Souls, which you can redeem at the Statue of Power to strengthen your Pals. If you want to power up your squad, Nitemary is a fantastic help for Soul farming. It also holds its own in battle with balanced, comparatively strong stats. At base, Nitemary can handle Transport and Handiwork.

Prunelia in Palworld: Harvest boost and top farm Pal

Location: Northern Feybreak Island

When it comes to growing crops, Prunelia is likely your best pick. It brings strong work skills like Planting, Gathering, and Medicine Production, and its partner ability boosts your harvest yield. Even better, the effect stacks—the more Prunelia you have, the more you can bring in. If you love working the fields, this Pal is practically mandatory.

Killamari in Palworld: Underrated worker and better glider

Location: Early-game dungeons (not in the overworld)

Killamari looks unassuming due to its small size and is likely ignored by many players. As a beginner in particular, you should take a closer look at this purple tentacled Pal: it’s one of the best workers for basic tasks (Gathering, Transport, and Watering). It’s also nocturnal, which is always handy. It’s not much use in combat, but you should still bring it on expeditions. Thanks to its partner ability, your glider is improved and can carry you longer. Unlock the appropriate gloves at Technology level 9.

Reindrix in Palworld: Cold-resistant mount for desert travel

Location: Frostbound Mountain, southern Astral Mountain region

You can ride Reindrix with a saddle from level 29, which is ideal for expeditions in hot regions. It keeps you cool, letting you gallop through the landscape without issues. You can also make use of its chill at base to cool the surroundings. In combat, Reindrix is useful thanks to its Ice Crown Tackle. Charge enemies and freeze them so you don’t have to fear counterattacks—especially valuable in the mid-game as you expand.

Beegarde in Palworld: Honey production, battle swarm, and all-rounder

Location: Verdant Brook

Beegarde isn’t truly underrated, since you need it to produce Honey for Cakes (Palworld Breeding Guide 2026: Breeding Farm, Incubator, and Cake) . But many forget that Beegarde offers even more, making it a true all-rounder in Palworld. Besides Honey, its partner ability also boosts Elizabee’s statsthe more you have in your team, the better. A full team of Beegarde and Elizabee can be dangerous. And as a regular worker at your base, Beegarde can cover many tasks, even if only at level 1.

Conclusion: Use Palworld’s underrated Pals wisely

You don’t have to focus on the Pals everyone else uses. There’s a wide variety of unique creatures, and some of them are often underestimated. Ultimately, it depends on what you want to achieve in the game and which Pals support that. Of course, you also need to find and catch the right ones—maybe even breed them. So look around carefully and consider Pals that don’t usually get much love.
