Palworld features a variety of regions where you can find and capture Pals. The three Wildlife Sanctuaries stand out in particular, as they’re home to especially rare and powerful Pals. These areas are technically off-limits, but you can still visit and snag a few of those Pals! Prepare well, then head to one of the three Wildlife Sanctuaries to hunt them down. Be careful, though—you’ll be trespassing in a protected area. Which Pals appear there and what you should keep in mind—you’ll find it all here!

Palworld Wildlife Sanctuaries: General tips and strategies

There are a total of three Wildlife Sanctuaries in Palworld. They’re islands along the edge of the map with very rare Pals and items. They’re called sanctuaries for a reason—these are protected areas and you’re not allowed to enter. Besides the strong Pals, you also need to watch out for PIDF Officers who will try to kick you off the island. Avoiding direct fights with them is key!

First, you have to reach the islands, which can be tough early on. They sit far out at sea and can only be reached by swimming (Palworld Swim Pals: Best Water Mounts for Early, Mid & Late Game) or flying (Palworld flying mounts: best mounts for early, mid, and late game) . We’ve already got guides for both types of mounts if you want to learn more. For your first visit, we recommend Chillet or Nitewing.

When entering and exploring the island, avoid the line of sight of the guards and most Pals unless you’re ready to fight. Keep an eye out for rare chests with valuable loot. The island is split into multiple tiers—the higher you go, the fewer chests you’ll find, but the rarer the loot becomes.

Palworld Wildlife Sanctuary 1: Location, level, and best Pals (Grizzbolt, Penking, Azurobe)

Palworld Wildlife Sanctuary 1 with Grizzbolt, Penking, and Azurobe
  • Location: South coast of the main island chain (start from the Coast of the Flying Fish)
  • Level: 20+

You’ll likely enter the first sanctuary when the related mission appears, asking you to capture Eikthyrdeer Terra. That’s the perfect time to head there. We recommend being at least level 20 and bringing strong Pals. Most Pals are between Lv. 18 and 22.

Our top 3 Pals to capture:

  1. Grizzbolt: The best Pal you can find here.
  2. Vaelet/Petallia: Both are great for tending plants at your base.
  3. Azurobe: An early water mount that also offers Watering Lv. 3.

Pals overview:

  • Penking: Exclusive: No; Work: very good; Combat: very good; Mount: none
  • Eikthyrdeer Terra: Exclusive: Yes; Work: good; Combat: good; Mount: ride
  • Vaelet: Exclusive: Yes; Work: very good; Combat: good; Mount: none
  • Elphidran: Exclusive: Yes; Work: poor; Combat: good; Mount: flight
  • Azurobe: Exclusive: No; Work: poor; Combat: good; Mount: water

Palworld Wildlife Sanctuary 2: Location, level, and rare catches (Quivern, Warsect, Jormuntide Ignis)

Palworld Wildlife Sanctuary 2 with Quivern, Warsect, and Jormuntide Ignis
  • Location: North of Mount Obsidian (from the Ruined City)
  • Level: 40+

The second sanctuary is much more heavily guarded and features many rare Pals that only spawn here. We suggest waiting until at least level 40, since Pals here are Lv. 40 to 45. That way, you can safely weaken and capture them. Many non‑exclusive Pals can also be found on Sakurajima or in Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3. The island also has resources like sulfur, valuable ores, and flowers.

Our top 3 Pals to capture:

  1. Quivern: A perfect mid‑game flying mount in Palworld.
  2. Verdash: An underrated Pal for both base work and combat.
  3. Warsect: Extremely strong in combat and decent at base tasks.

Pals overview:

  • Jormuntide Ignis: Exclusive: No; Work: poor; Combat: very good; Mount: ride
  • Wumpo Botan: Exclusive: Yes; Work: very good; Combat: good; Mount: ride
  • Incineram Noct: Exclusive: No; Work: good; Combat: very good; Mount: none
  • Kingpaca: Exclusive: Yes; Work: poor; Combat: good; Mount: ride

Palworld Wildlife Sanctuary 3 with Astegon, Bushi, and Orserk
  • Location: Northeast of the Thirsty Dunes
  • Level: 45+

Pals in the third sanctuary are also Lv. 40 to 45, so you can visit it around the same time. However, you’ll find rarer and stronger Pals here than before, and breaking in is trickier. Some of the best late‑game Pals spawn here—great for combat, base work, or as mounts. You’ll also find a few Pals that aren’t strictly exclusive and can appear elsewhere.

Our top 3 Pals to capture:

  1. Orserk: Powerful in combat and provides Electricity Lv. 4.
  2. Lyleen: A direct upgrade for gardening over Vaelet and Petallia at your base.
  3. Faleris: The best mid‑game flying Pal.

Pals overview:

Conclusion: Explore Palworld’s Wildlife Sanctuaries and catch rare Pals

To strengthen your team and capture rare Pals, you’ll need to visit Palworld’s Wildlife Sanctuaries sooner or later. They’re home to several exclusive monsters that are extremely powerful! You can tackle the first island from level 20, but for the other two sanctuaries, we recommend waiting until level 40. There you’ll find strong end‑game Pals—perfect for your base, for combat, or as mounts.
