In Palworld you can use Pals not only as ground mounts, but also as flying mounts! The number of available creatures is smaller, but flying will likely become your main means of transport sooner or later. That makes it important to focus on the best Pals and avoid spending unnecessary technology points on saddles. If you prefer traveling on the ground, read our guide to regular mounts: (Palworld mounts: Best mounts for early, mid & late game) . Otherwise, here are the best flying mounts in Palworld to take to the skies!

Palworld flying mounts in the early game: best starter mounts

Palworld early-game flying mounts: best starters Nitewing, Vanwyrm, and Elphidran

Nitewing guide: your first flying Pal and saddle

  • Location: Forgotten Island, Ice Wind Island, Desiccated Desert (south), Sea Breeze Island (west), Windswept Hills (east)
  • Saddle unlock level: 15
  • Speed: 600 to 750

Nitewing is the first Pal whose saddle lets you fly. You’ll have to wait until level 15 and make do with ground mounts until then. It’s still worth it, as it takes a few levels before new saddles become available. Nitewing appears in many locations, so it isn’t hard to catch. It is, however, relatively slow, which is fair given how early you can get it.

Vanwyrm flying mount: weak-point boost in combat

  • Location: Bamboo Groves (south), Mount Obsidian, Feybreak (beaches)
  • Saddle unlock level: 21
  • Speed: 700 to 850

Just a few levels later you can unlock Vanwyrm. It’s a bit faster than Nitewing and its Partner Skill boosts your damage to enemy weak points while riding. That’s especially useful in fights and makes Vanwyrm a strong addition to your team.

Elphidran flying Pal: more drops from Dark Pals

  • Location: Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1
  • Saddle unlock level: 21
  • Speed: 630 to 800

You’ll only find Elphidran in Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1. It isn’t necessarily faster than the previous Pals, but it shines against Dark-type enemies. Thanks to its Partner Skill, Dark Pals drop more items, which helps when farming specific materials.

Palworld mid game: best flyers and fast mounts

Palworld mid-game best flying mounts: Beakon, Ragnahawk, and Faleris

Beakon flyer: Electric attacks against Water Pals

  • Location: Desiccated Desert (north), Northern Rock Fields
  • Saddle unlock level: 34
  • Speed: 750 to 1200

There’s another gap in tech between the early-game flyers and Beakon—but it’s worth the wait. While mounted, Beakon converts your attacks to Electric type, which is especially strong against Water. It’s also a clear speed upgrade over the early flying mounts.

Ragnahawk mount: Fire attacks and cold protection

  • Location: Coast of Mount Obsidian, Emberstone Plateau
  • Saddle unlock level: 37
  • Speed: 800 to 1300

With Ragnahawk you get a fast and powerful Pal. Its flaming wings imbue your attacks with Fire type, effective against Grass and Ice. Additionally, it keeps you warm in cold regions. At your base it’s also very useful with Kindling and Transporting at level 3. An all-around practical mid-game mount.

Faleris flying mount: fast travel and Ice drops

  • Location: Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3
  • Saddle unlock level: 38
  • Speed: 1000 to 1400

You’ll only find Faleris in Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3, but it’s worth the effort. It’s slightly faster than Ragnahawk, making it ideal for getting around quickly. Its Partner Skill also makes Ice Pals drop more items. At level 55 you can additionally unlock the saddle for Faleris Aqua.

Palworld late game: fastest flyers and legends

Palworld late-game fastest flying mounts: Frostallion, Jetdragon, and Selyne

Frostallion and Noct: legendary Ice and Dark flyers

  • Location: Astral Mountain (Alpha Pal near the lake), Feybreak (Noct variant)
  • Saddle unlock level: 48
  • Speed: 1200 to 1800

Frostallion is hard to beat among flying Pals. It’s tough to find and capture, but the effort pays off. As a legendary Pal it’s extremely strong in combat and excellent as a mount. While riding, it converts your attacks to Ice type. The Noct variant changes your attacks to Dark type.

Jetdragon guide: fastest Palworld flyer with rockets

  • Location: Mount Obsidian (Alpha Pal)
  • Saddle unlock level: 50 (Rocket Launcher)
  • Speed: 1700 to 3300

If you’re after the fastest flying mount in Palworld, Jetdragon is the answer. Unlike other mounts, it doesn’t use a saddle—instead you unlock a Rocket Launcher as the tech item. While flying you can fire rockets at enemies. Fittingly, this Pal is rare and legendary.

Selyne flying Pal: team buffs and strong stats

  • Location: Sakurajima (meteorite)
  • Saddle unlock level: 53
  • Speed: 1000 to 1600

Selyne isn’t as fast as Jetdragon, but it’s outstanding in combat. Its strong base stats hold up against many other Pals, and its Partner Skill boosts Dark- and Neutral-type attacks. With plenty of HP, Selyne can take a beating. At your base, it’s also great for Handiwork, Transporting, and Medicine Production.

Conclusion on Palworld flyers: explore new regions with mounts

Flying mounts are among the best ways to get around in Palworld. With them you can cross the islands of Palpagos and discover new places from the air. There aren’t tons of flying Pals, but several are especially worthwhile. Your entry point is Nitewing; later, Faleris, Jetdragon, or Selyne will speed you up significantly.

To get comfortable with these mounts, rent your Palworld server from us now. You’ll need to reach level 15 first, but after that the skies of Palworld are yours!
