In Palworld, you can not only catch Pals on Palpagos Island but also breed them. There are many mechanics that set breeding apart from other games. For example, you can combine Pals to create unique monsters. At the same time, breeding is essential if you want the best stats. You can unlock the basics fairly early to fill your Paldeck and hatch strong Pals. We’ll cover every aspect of how to breed Pals easily and pick the best stats.

Palworld breeding: basics with breeding farm, incubator, and cake

To breed Pals in Palworld, you need some core technologies. A base of your own is also required, as that’s where you’ll run your breeding setup smoothly. You unlock the ability to breed your Pals at Level 19. There you can spend two Technology Points to unlock the Breeding Farm.

That’s not all you need, though. You also have to make cake and unlock incubators to start breeding. You can prepare both before Level 19.

Make cake for breeding in Palworld

Cake is required for your Pals to reproduce in the Breeding Farm. On the right side of the farm, there’s a chest where you must place the cake. Otherwise, your Pals won’t do anything.

You need various ingredients for cake:

  • Red Berries: Gather them by hand, have Pals grow them in a Berry Plantation from Level 5, or get them as Pal drops.
  • Flour: Grow Wheat in a Wheat Plantation from Level 15 and process it in the Mill from Level 15.
  • Eggs: Obtain them by keeping Chikipi in a Ranch.
  • Milk: Obtain it from Mozzarina in a Ranch.
  • Honey: Produced by Beegarde in a Ranch.

Alternatively, you can buy all ingredients from vendors in Palworld. You can even capture them and station them at your base so you always have access to their inventory. In that case, you’ll need to farm money to regularly afford new ingredients.

To bake cake, you need the Cooking Station from Level 17 and a Pal with the Kindling work suitability. In the early game, Foxparks can handle this job. If you can make cake, you’ll be well prepared to start breeding at Level 19.

Use the breeding farm correctly and get eggs

Using the breeding farm in Palworld and obtaining eggs

Build a Breeding Farm in your base and assign two Pals. You can do this by picking up the Pals and throwing them into the farm, or by using the Monitoring Stand from Level 14 to assign Pals directly to tasks and workstations.

Breeding only works if you put one male and one female Pal in the farm. If you use two Pals of the same species, that species will hatch from the egg. It’s also possible to combine different species, which can lead to surprising results.

Your assigned Pals will start reproducing. We also recommend having a Braloha in your base. Its Partner Skill can reduce the time until egg production. After a while, eggs will appear in the Breeding Farm, which you then need to hatch in separate incubators. A single farm can hold up to 20 eggs. Make sure it doesn’t fill up.

Hatching Palworld eggs: use the incubator properly

Efficiently hatching eggs in the Palworld incubator

Eggs from the Breeding Farm or those found in the wild must be hatched so you can welcome your new Pal into the world. The bigger the egg, the stronger the Pal inside. There are normal, large, and huge eggs. The larger the egg, the longer the hatching time.

You unlock your first Incubator at Level 7 with an Ancient Technology Point. The Incubator doesn’t require electricity, but different eggs prefer different conditions to hatch faster. Some like it cold, others warm. Check the incubator to see what temperature is needed and use heat or cold nearby to help.

You’ll unlock additional incubators later:

  • Level 36: Electric Incubator. Regulates conditions via power.
  • Level 47: Large Incubator. No power needed, but 10 slots.
  • Level 60: Large Electric Incubator. Powered and 10 slots.

Palworld breeding benefits: Pal combos and passive skills

Pal combinations and passive skills in Palworld breeding

Why go through all this? Breeding Pals has many benefits, especially for long-term players. It lets you get the most out of your Pals and target the best passive skills.

In general, breeding has two main goals:

  • Pure breeding: Pass the best passive skills on to the offspring, build a breeding chain, and get progressively stronger Pals.
  • Crossbreeding: Breed Pals that are hard to find or capture to fill your Paldeck.

Breeding two identical parents is perfect for inheriting strong stats. You can set up a long chain by always putting your best new Pals back into the Breeding Farm, gradually passing on good passives. It’s also practical to condense surplus Pals and transfer skills that way.

Combining two different Pals is useful when you want to breed rare Pals. Parent combinations can vary greatly. For an exact overview, we recommend the Pal breeding calculator, as there are many combinations.

Which Pals you should breed depends on your playstyle. Some Pals are perfect for combat, others for work in your base. You can tailor breeding to your own needs.

Conclusion: Palworld breeding delivers powerful and rare Pals

Breeding new Pals in Palworld is an important mechanic that gives you stronger and rarer Pals. You can inherit passive skills or combine two different Pals to get new ones. The system is flexible and deep, making it easy to align with your game progress and playstyle.
