Between levels 20 and 40, Palworld really opens up with a huge range of new areas and Pals to choose from. That can make it hard to pick the very best creatures for your needs, whether for combat, your base, or as a mount. If you want to learn about the best early-game Pals, check out our guide: (Palworld: The 10 best Pals for the perfect start) . Today we’ll pick up from there and look at how to build your team and base for the Mid-Game. We’ll focus on how easy Pals are to catch as well as on striking a good balance.

Mossanda in the Mid-Game: Base worker and strong combat Pal
- Location: Verdant Brook
Let’s start with a few Pals that shine in your base. Mossanda should be at the top of your list—this green panda really delivers. Its base work skills are hard to beat: Lumbering, Handiwork, and Planting at Lv. 2, plus Transporting at Lv. 3. It’s also relatively less hungry than many others. That makes it an all-round powerhouse for your base. You can also ride it and put its Grenade Launcher to work in combat, which you can unlock at level 24.
Digtoise in the Mid-Game: Mining Pal for ore and resources
- Location: Twilight Dunes, Desiccated Desert (north)
Mining becomes increasingly important in the Mid-Game, so you should definitely pick up Digtoise. You can find it easily in the desert, and with Mining Lv. 3 it outperforms most nearby Pals. This lets you gather ore and other resources in no time. Use its Headband, which you unlock at level 19. This lets Digtoise spin like a drill, making node clearing even easier.
Penking in the Mid-Game: All-rounder for base tasks
- Location: Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1, Verdant Brook, and Astral Mountains (fishing)
If you’re after one of the very best base Pals, Penking is a top-tier choice. It covers many tasks, each at Lv. 2. With Cooling, Handiwork, Watering, Mining, and Transporting, Penking is a true all-rounder among base Pals. It is, however, fairly hungry. In combat, its Partner Skill can also increase item drops from Fire Pals.
Incineram in the Mid-Game: Kindling, transport, and handiwork
- Location: Obsidian Mountain (southern beach)
Once you’re around level 30, head to the Obsidian Mountains and keep an eye out for Incineram. Its broad skill set makes it an excellent Mid-Game base Pal. Kindling is particularly useful if you’re running furnaces. It can also handle mining, transporting, and general handiwork. It’s nocturnal too, helping keep your base running around the clock.

Warsect in the Mid-Game: Top combat Pal well into the end-game
- Location: Wildlife Sanctuary No. 2
You’ll only be able to catch Warsect toward the end of the Mid-Game, but it’s well worth the effort. Warsect is arguably one of the strongest Pals in the entire game and will reliably carry you well into the end-game. Its Partner Skill boosts defense in combat and reduces damage from Fire attacks. Don’t miss out on this one.
Kitsun in the Mid-Game: Mount and powerful Fire fighter
- Location: Frostbound Mountain
The blue fox Kitsun is often underrated, especially in combat. But it can punch far above its weight and fits perfectly into a Mid-Game Palworld team. Its mount ability makes you immune to environmental effects like heat and cold, which is a huge advantage. In terms of combat power, Kitsun also absolutely holds its own. A good Kitsun will carry you through many encounters as it unleashes its flames.
Quivern in the Mid-Game: Boost Dragon attacks and fight flexibly
- Location: Wildlife Sanctuary No. 2, Sakurajima
Quivern tends to be a late Mid-Game catch, but you can grab it earlier to become nearly unstoppable. While its work skills make it helpful in the base, it truly shines in combat. It can learn a diverse movepool across multiple types, making it universally useful. You unlock its Saddle at level 36, and when you ride it, it boosts Dragon-type attacks.

Pyrin in the Mid-Game: Fast mount with Fire bonus
- Location: Obsidian Mountain (east side)
One of the very best Mid-Game mounts is Pyrin, whose Saddle you unlock at level 31. Its ability converts all your attacks to Fire-type while riding, which is great against Ice or Grass. It’s also among the fastest Pals you can find at this stage. Pyrin is fairly rare, but we strongly recommend keeping an eye out.
Ragnahawk in the Mid-Game: Best flying mount and base helper
- Location: Obsidian Mountain (west side)
If you prefer to take to the skies, unlock the Saddle for Ragnahawk at Technology level 37. It’s one of the best Pals for air travel and will serve you well into the end-game. Like Pyrin, when you ride it, it turns all your attacks into Fire. It’s also great in the base, offering Kindling and Transporting Lv. 3. Ragnahawk is a true jack-of-all-trades.
Galeclaw in the Mid-Game: Best glider Pal with weapon use
- Location: Bamboo Groves, Crescent Moon Shore
Finally, for gliding, you can’t go wrong with Galeclaw. It’s easy to find, and you can unlock its Galeclaw Gloves as early as level 23 for just one point. These let you glide faster while still using weapons—no other Pal in this category allows that. If you’re going on exploration runs, Galeclaw should always be by your side.
Conclusion: Optimize your Mid-Game team and base
During the Mid-Game, Palworld opens up and you’ll encounter plenty of new Pals. We hope this guide helps you catch the right ones and put them to work in the right roles. Some excel at base duties, while others are better in combat. You can also breed them to produce top-tier Pals with strong passive skills, squeezing even more performance from your squad.
