The new Wake of the Water update adds not only a completely new region but also many new mechanics, items, and blocks. Enshrouded is now even more complex and hides a few secrets you may not know yet. Today, we’re taking a closer look at exactly those—some of these features are too good to miss. Explore the dense jungle and ancient ruins of Veilwater Basin, or progress far enough in quests to unlock plenty of new options.
1. Enshrouded Wake of the Water: Brewing coffee and recipes

Many can’t live without coffee, and now the tasty hot drink is in Enshrouded too. Head to Stillwater Bay to find both the Coffee Brewery and the Drum Roaster. Make for one of the large towers and break through the roof. Both machines are directly below.
You can find three recipes in Stillwater Bay:
- Black Coffee: Stamina + melee
- Latte: Stamina + magic
- Sweet Mocha: Stamina + ranged
You’ll find coffee beans all over Veilwater Basin, and you can grow them like any other crop. More about harvests here: (Enshrouded Farming Guide: Grow Plants, Soil & Update 7) . Roast the beans and grind them in the mill into coffee powder. From that, you can brew delicious coffee.
2. Underwater in Enshrouded: Find and use swim fins

You can now explore underwater areas in Enshrouded to find rare treasures and items. Without the right gear, though, you won’t get far. First on your list should be swim fins, which let you move more efficiently underwater and make you significantly more agile. You’ll also have more stamina, which is very handy.
You’ll eventually get the recipe from a quest from the Angler, but you can start hunting them earlier. Go to Goldrock Settle and venture deep into the ruins until you reach the Shroud. There’s a grate there, behind which you’ll find the chest with the swim fins.
3. Enshrouded farming: Find and properly grow rice

Rice is another new crop you can grow in Enshrouded. It works a bit differently from most plants because it must be constantly submerged. You’ll find rice plants in Orville and can then multiply the seeds at your base.
We recommend building a terraced setup for rice and letting water flow from one level down to the next. It not only looks great but is also very practical. You can then cook the harvested rice and use it in recipes like sushi, curry, or fried rice.
4. Enshrouded fishing: Find the Lucky fishing rod early
Fishing is probably one of the best new pastimes in Enshrouded. Read more in the guide: (Enshrouded Fishing Guide: Bait, Rods, Fish & Locations) . You can not only catch fish and turn them into tasty meals, but also pull rare treasures from the water. For that, you’ll need the right rod, which usually takes a while to get.
Enter the Lucky fishing rod, which you can find early and use for your fishing adventures. You’ll find it in the Suspicious Drak’dal Ruins. The treasure is marked with a big red X on the ground between the ruins and is hard to miss. Dig there to find the rod in a chest. Later, you can also craft it yourself after completing enough quests from the Angler.
5. Enshrouded mill and waterwheel: Use them correctly

We started with coffee, and the mill is a key tool for it. But it can do more, including turning bones into bone meal. You unlock the mill by completing the relevant quest for the Alchemist. After that, you’ll receive the millstone and the recipe.
The mill needs an external power source. That’s where the new water mechanics come in. You must use a waterwheel to power the millstone. Water flows from above and turns the wheel, which in turn powers the nearby mill.
6. Enshrouded diving: Find the diving helmet

For diving, you’ll want not only swim fins but also a diving helmet. It grants +60 oxygen and reduces the Wet status effect. Another advantage is that the diving helmet emits light, so you can use it in dark places as well.
You can find it in the Drak’dal Temple by looking for a large pile of gold that is underwater. Search the corpse lying there, and you’ll get the diving helmet. If you follow the Angler’s quests, you’ll come across it too and receive a crafting recipe for it.
7. Enshrouded building: New and rare construction materials

Like many updates before it, Wake of the Water brings new building blocks. Some are easy to find, such as bamboo and limestone, while others are much harder to obtain. For passionate, creative builders, these are must-haves.
Find rare materials:
- Drak Temple Block: Dive through the Drak ruins to find the recipe.
- Drak Temple Roof: In the same Drak Temple, hidden behind gold coins.
- Red Carpet: In a cave next to one of the watchtowers in Stillwater Bay.
- Shell limestone roof: In a chest in the small village of Dewdrop Farm.
8. Enshrouded mining: Craft a miner’s helmet and mine faster

Finally, let’s look at the miner’s helmet, a helpful item you should definitely craft. It provides a light source similar to the diving helmet from tip 6 and grants additional buffs. You’ll have more stamina and can mine stone and metals faster.
To unlock the recipe at the Blacksmith, you’ll first need a mill—see tip 5. There, use Gleam Roots to make the corresponding powder. You’ll need that to craft the miner’s helmet. You’ll also need capybara bristles, steel bars, aquamarines, and glowing underwater plants.
Conclusion: Discover Enshrouded Wake of the Water
Of course, this is only a fraction of what you can discover in Wake of the Water. The many new mechanics open fresh approaches to crafting, cooking, and combat. With the help of NPCs and quests, you’ll eventually find all of this on your own.
