Enshrouded is a large-scale survival RPG that focuses not on a single area, but on many distinct biomes. The map isn’t procedurally generated; it was handcrafted by the developers. That makes exploration worthwhile — you never know what surprises the devs have left behind! Embervale is diverse and offers many different biomes that provide unique quests, materials, items, and challenges. Today we’ll take you on a short tour of the map and help you with your Enshrouded walkthrough.

Enshrouded Springlands Guide: A Peaceful Start in a Forest Biome

Enshrouded Springlands peaceful forest biome overview

Level: 1 to 10

Flame Altar: 1 to 2

In every region, we recommend heading straight to the nearest Ancient Spire for a great vantage point over the area. After the initial tutorial, you arrive in the Springlands, a gentle and mostly peaceful biome for your first steps in the game. Get familiar with the mechanics, gather your first items, and talk to survivors. Common enemies here are the Fallen and Scavengers, as well as wild animals. You can also look for rare fossils found only in this biome.

A key part of this area is building your first simple base and rescuing several survivors. Start with the Blacksmith, who is crucial for further upgrades. You can also rescue the Alchemist and the Farmer here.

Enshrouded Low Meadows: Resources and Survivors in the Valley

Head southeast from the Springlands to reach an open, grassy valley. Technically it’s part of the Springlands, but it’s best for players from level 5 onward. Here you’ll find the Hunter and Carpenter, two more important survivors for your base. The area is great for gathering plenty of resources such as wood, sticks, animal products, and plant fibers. Stock up to gear yourself for the midgame!

Enshrouded Revelwood: Dense Forest Biome with Rare Resources

Enshrouded Revelwood dense old-growth forest with resources

Level: 10 to 15

Flame Altar: 3

Travel north from the Springlands to reach Revelwood, an even denser forest filled with nasty creatures. Watch out for Fallen and Scavengers, and beware that the local flora and fauna can also be hazardous.

Venture into the woods to hunt for rare resources. You’ll find copper, clay, and hardwood to craft better gear. It’s also a great region to discover many armor pieces. More on that in our article (Enshrouded Armor & Outfits: Best Sets, Classes & Transmog) . There are two sets per class to find!

Enshrouded Blackmire: Swamp Biome, Puzzles, and the Bard

Further north lies Blackmire, a sub-region of Revelwood. The trees are even denser, and you’ll often have to fight through a jungle-like environment to progress. It’s also fun to solve the local puzzles! You’ll find the Bard here, deep within one of the dungeons. You can also encounter rare animals, either to tame or use as crafting materials.

Enshrouded Nomad Highlands: Desert Plateau, Vukah, and New Ores

Enshrouded Nomad Highlands desert plateau with Vukah

Level: 15 to 20

Flame Altar: 4

The highlands separate the eastern and western sides of the map and should be crossed from around level 15. It’s a harsh, barren region with a strikingly different landscape. That also means new resources you won’t find in the western forests. You’ll mostly encounter limestone, but you can also find tin and fossil bones for various recipes. You’ll come across aloe vera, peppers, and rooibos as well.

The environment isn’t friendly. Expect tougher Scavengers and Fallen and many Vukah gathered in their camps. Keep an eye out for dangerous wildlife like saber-toothed tigers.

Enshrouded Kindlewastes: Desert Lowlands, Crafting Resources, and Armor

Enshrouded Kindlewastes desert lowlands resources and armor

Level: 20 to 30

Flame Altar: 5

The Kindlewastes are a large region in the southeast that will test you. The sun beats down even harder and the desert seems endless. But the trip pays off, as you can equip yourself with plenty of great items. Find rare resources like saffron, lapis, and sulfur, and look for palmwood and iron. If you enjoy building with sand and sandstone, this is the place!

Here the fauna is your main challenge, including scorpions, rats, spiders, and vultures. You’ll still encounter Scavengers and Fallen, but less often than in previous regions. Dungeon delving is worth it, as you can find three different armor sets per class here, along with many powerful weapons to prepare you for the final two regions.

Enshrouded Albaneve Summits: Frost Biome, Mountains, and Rare Ores

Enshrouded Albaneve Summits snow-covered mountains and ores

Level: 30 to 40

Flame Altar: 6 to 8

You’ve braved forests and deserts — now it’s time for the cold mountains. Head north of the Kindlewastes and you’ll immediately notice the shift to a frigid landscape. We recommend warm clothing and keeping an eye out for rare armor.

This region is full of new materials and items, including snow and ice, as well as stones like granite, obsidian, and silver. You’ll face your usual foesFallen and Scavengers — now even stronger. Climb to the highest peak and face a mystical creature. Also, keep an eye out for goats for your base and animal husbandry.

Enshrouded Veilwater Basin: Tropical Biome, Fishing, and Draks

Enshrouded Veilwater Basin tropical water biome fishing Draks

Level: 35 to 45

Flame Altar: 8 to 9

The latest region is Veilwater Basin, a waterlogged area north of the highlands, between Blackmire and Albaneve Summits. It’s inspired by the tropics, with beautiful ruins and plenty of new mechanics. You’ll also meet the Angler, a new survivor. That finally lets you craft a fishing rod and catch fish.

There are new enemies too — the reptilian Draks. They’ve built their sacred temples here and defend them fiercely. Exploration is worthwhile, with unique items like coffee, gold, aquamarine, and tropical wood to discover. You’ll also find new foods, including bananas, ginger, and coconuts.
