After the green plains of the Emerald Wilds and the scorching deserts of the Howling Sands, it’s time to head far north—icy Zone 3 awaits. The Whisperfrost Frontiers aren’t for the faint of heart in Hytale, with tough enemies and an unforgiving environment. Climb towering mountains, slide across ice floes, or delve into frigid cave systems to search for the rare Cobalt. Zone 3 brims with secrets, massive structures, and a people who are anything but friendly. Let’s bundle up and see what Zone 3 has to offer—and why you need to visit.
Biomes and Wildlife in Hytale Zone 3: Whisperfrost Frontiers

As in the first two zones, Zone 3 is also divided into multiple regions, each with its own distinctive features. Much of it is the Frostmarch Tundra, a blend of different forests like spruce, fir, and redwood. You’ll also find vast landscapes with little vegetation, especially near the transition to Zone 1. The barren mountain peaks are part of this as well. Interwoven is the Boreal Reach, where many biomes overlap. The more snow you find, the deeper you’re venturing into Zone 3. The Everfrost is the final stage of the Whisperfrost Frontiers, with stretches that are completely frozen over beneath a thick ice sheet, ice floes along the sea, and snowbound mountain ranges. Only the hardiest creatures survive here.

And there are surprisingly many of them! Here and there you’ll encounter familiar faces like bears, wolves, foxes, or hares. You’ll also meet new animals such as bison, elk, rams, and adorable mouflons. On ice floes, you can spot polar bears, penguins, or snow leopards. Yetis await you in the mountains as well!
Just like the Kweebecs in Zone 1 and the Ferans in Zone 2, there’s an indigenous people here too: the Outlanders. They aren’t friendly; they’re a formidable warrior culture that defends its bases by any means. A fight can go very badly for you—bring your best gear!
Ice Caves in Hytale Zone 3: Cobalt, Ores, and Monsters

Zone 3 has caves too, but they differ greatly from those in other regions. You’ll feel how frigid it is right at the surface. The walls are made of shale and slate, two beautiful blocks for building. There’s also plenty of ice and blue ice—watch out so you don’t slip. The caves contain deep pits and water pools you can easily fall into. Now and then you’ll also find blue moss growing inside.
In terms of layout, ice caves hardly differ from each other. Deeper down you’ll come across basalt and volcanic rock. The latter is quite hard to mine and takes a while. You’ll continue to find ice and water pools that you can dive into to discover treasures. Sometimes you’ll also find ancient ruins far below. More rarely, there are skeletal remains trapped in the ice.

As for enemies, expect the usual rats and goblins, which love to spawn behind your back. Deeper in the ice caves you’ll encounter other monsters, including nasty Magma Rhino Toads whose tongues can fling you through the air. You’ll also meet lava snails, which are passive. Otherwise, these caves are surprisingly quiet and peaceful.
Zone 3 is also where you can find the blue ore cobalt. It appears in both caves and mountains. You shouldn’t have any trouble mining several stacks. In the mountains, also keep an eye out for silver and gold—two ores used in magic and alchemy.
Structures and Landmarks in Hytale Zone 3: Whisperfrost Frontiers

The third zone definitely doesn’t lack interesting structures. Explore the icy landscape and you’ll find both familiar and new buildings. For example, there’s a variant of the Forgotten Temple, this time with an Ice Golem. You’ll also find a sprawling dungeon, similar to the Crypt in Zone 1. Skeletons have adapted too, taking over ruins or mage towers.
In the mountains, you may stumble upon Yeti camps, though their residents won’t be thrilled by your visit. Along the coasts, you’ll find abandoned docks with houses, as well as ice-carved dwellings, likely former homes of Trorks. You can loot these without trouble, as they’re completely deserted.
Particularly interesting are the Outlander structures. They come in different forms, from small villages to massive ritual sites on the ice floes. These places are often extremely well guarded, and you should not underestimate the Outlanders. If you’re not careful, they can kill you in an instant. But there are valuable treasures to be had, so the risk may be worth it if you feel strong enough.
Conclusion for Hytale Zone 3: Farm Cobalt and Defeat the Outlanders
Zone 3 offers varied biomes and plenty of wildlife you won’t find elsewhere. Between elk and bison, there are rare monsters like the Yeti that live high in the mountains. But beware of the Outlanders, who defend their large villages and are definitely not foes to take lightly. The ice caves, on the other hand, are fairly calm, and you’ll find loads of cobalt—as well as gold and silver.
