DayZ Loot Guide: The Best Locations for Resources

DayZ Loot Guide: The Best Locations for Resources

The map of DayZ can be particularly overwhelming for new players, as there is something exciting to find around every corner. And you certainly want to equip yourself with some of the best armor and weapons as early as possible, which is why it’s not a bad idea to get a little more familiar with some locations on the map. But be prepared for other players to be present as well, also seeking good loot. If you want to orientate yourself better, we recommend a map like iZurvive. But you can also find tourist maps in the game itself to help you with navigation. We’ve already discussed more about navigation in a previous article (DayZ Navigation Guide: Better Map Navigation) .

The Best Camping Bungalows for Outdoor Loot in DayZ

Camping Bungalows in DayZ

The map of DayZ would be a wonderful paradise for those who love outdoor activities. With zombies, it naturally becomes a bit more complicated, but there are still many great locations that you can visit and loot. Overall, there are eleven different summer camps with tents, bungalows, and other unique features. They are not only nice to look at but also have very good loot that you should take with you. Particularly interesting are camping and hunting equipment such as rifles, useful tools, or camouflage clothing.

These camps are especially worthwhile:

  • Arsenyevo (also has military buildings and a medical station)

  • Metallurgist (a beautiful view of the large dam)

  • Pobeda (large and with good loot)

  • Svyato-Romanovsky Ski Resort (the only ski region with a great environment and many cabins)

Visit Historical Castles and Fortresses for Unique DayZ Loot

Castles and Fortresses in DayZ

Castles can also be found in Chernarus. Although they are often just ruins, they make DayZ and its setting unique. In which other survival title can you build your base in a medieval castle?

Currently, there are nine castles on the map, and you will probably see them from afar. They were built on high mountains to have a good view of the valley. There isn’t necessarily one castle superior to another. In addition to regular weapons, you will also find some ancient items such as chainmail or even knight swords.

Loot in DayZ: Locations of Exciting Crash Sites

Crash Sites in DayZ

Not everything is always in perfect order in DayZ, and sometimes you stumble upon places in Chernarus where an accident occurred. In most cases, these are helicopters that have crashed and hold good loot for you. But you can also find entire planes, military vehicle accidents, train wrecks, or police operations. During Christmas time, there are also Santa’s sleighs and unique clothing items to find.

Military Bases: The Best Weapons and Armor in DayZ

Military Bases in DayZ

Even more exciting and filled with extremely good loot are the various military bases you can find in the world of DayZ. Here, you can not only find the best weapons but also the best armor! But this also makes these locations very popular with players, so you should be really careful. Sooner or later, you should visit them to have a chance at good loot. There are a total of seven larger camps to be found, scattered across the entire map. Primarily, however, you will find them in the west or north.

Explore DayZ: Major Cities for Maximum Loot

Major Cities in DayZ

As long as you stick to the main roads, you will come across a settlement. Chernarus is dotted with countless small villages and towns, but much more interesting are, of course, the large cities that contain many residential buildings and are often a meeting point for players. They are a big risk, but also offer you the best loot. Here, you will not only find plenty of houses but also special buildings like hospitals, fire stations, or police stations. And these give you some of the best items you need for your adventure in DayZ.

We recommend heading to Chernogorsk along the southern coast and to the north to Novodmitrovsk. Both major cities are not only full of loot but are also wonderful to explore. If you are relatively new, then Chernogorsk is probably a good first stop for you to improve your equipment. But watch out for other players here as well, because cities are very dangerous. You never know where a sniper might be sitting and could take you out without your knowledge. But the risk is definitely worth it!

Storozh Prison Island: A DayZ Adventure on an Isolated Island

Storozh Prison Island in DayZ

A very specific place we want to share with you is Storozh Prison Island in the south of the country. This building was once one of the castles but was then converted into a prison due to its isolated location. The journey to the island is not necessarily easy, as you have to swim, making you vulnerable to attacks. But since Storozh is the only prison, it is definitely something you should see at least once in DayZ.

Airfields: Exciting DayZ Action and Top-Notch Loot

Airfields in DayZ

The most coveted places in all of DayZ are airfields. There are only three of them, and they are a key venue for player encounters. The airfields are so popular because they offer excellent loot, and the military has set up camp here. While Balota in the south and Krasnostav in the north are not too challenging, you should prepare for intense gameplay at Vybor!

If you have mastered Vybor, you are probably prepared for all further encounters in DayZ! We definitely recommend not going in blindly or running wildly across the runway and becoming an easy target for snipers. The area around the airfield is vast, so you should take your time to explore everything thoroughly.

Contaminated Zones: High-Risk and Rewarding Loot in DayZ

Contaminated Zones in DayZ

Lastly, you can, of course, venture into the contaminated zones. Permanently, these are the previously mentioned Pavlovo military base and the shipwreck Rify in the north. Both are shrouded in a dense gas cloud that you should only explore with the appropriate equipment. So, you should wear a complete NBC suit beforehand.

Additionally, contaminated zones can dynamically appear on the map but disappear after a while. Almost all of the locations mentioned here are included. They occur approximately every 15 minutes and often dissolve after just a few minutes. But they can come unexpectedly, and you should quickly leave the zone.

Conclusion

If you are looking for good loot or just want to visit the coolest places on the map, our list can hopefully help you. There are really many interesting places to see in Chernarus, and you should definitely dare to visit some of these locations. Rent one of our DayZ servers and explore the vastness of Chernarus with your friends. The more dangerous the place, the better the loot you will find!
