In Palworld you’re spoilt for choice with more than 150 different monsters you can recruit for both your base and your team. Unsurprisingly, after nearly two years players have identified the top Pals for various tasks. But plenty of creatures that are secretly excellent still get overlooked. Forget Anubis and focus instead on Pals that not everyone uses — you might uncover some brilliant abilities. Let’s take a closer look at eight of these underrated Pals.

Menasting in Palworld: Powerful defender and work Pal
Location: Northern Stone Fields, Southern Sandbank, Wildlife Sanctuary No. 2
Menasting is often overshadowed by others in its category, yet it has plenty going for it. This mechanical scorpion isn’t the easiest to find and capture, but once it’s on your team it’s one of the best defenders in combat. It also boosts your defence and causes Electric Pals to drop more loot. If you prefer to deploy it at your base, it’s also well suited to chopping trees and mining.
Astegon in Palworld: Unbeatable miner and flying mount
Location: Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3
Astegon is underrated partly because of its striking black-and-pink colouring — but its abilities stand out as well. Astegon is a flying mount that also lets you gather more ore. With Level 4 Mining it’s hard to beat, and it can work at night too. Its combat stats are very strong, as is its Dark/Dragon type combination.

Sootseer in Palworld: Top attacker with powerful fire skills
Location: Dancing Sakura Shrine
Sootseer shimmers with violet flames and is one of the prettiest Pals by design. It’s often passed over, yet its attack stats can compete with some of the very best in the game. It also learns powerful fire attacks naturally. As a work Pal it’s strong too, offering a broad range of five different work skills at various levels: Kindling, Gathering, Handiwork, Mining and Farming. Its Partner Skill can also net you more Bones when you need them.
Nitemary in Palworld: Farm more Souls and solid stats
Location: Southern part of Feybreak Island
Nitemary is not just one of the most beautiful Pals; it’s especially valuable thanks to its Partner Skill, which grants you more Souls that you can spend at the Statue of Power to enhance your Pals. If you want to strengthen your team quickly, Nitemary is a great aid for Soul farming. It also holds its own in battle with balanced, comparatively strong stats. At your base, Nitemary can take on Transporting and Handiwork.

Prunelia in Palworld: Harvest boost and top farm Pal
Location: Northern part of Feybreak Island
When it comes to growing crops, Prunelia is likely your best pick. It not only has strong work skills like Planting, Gathering and Medicine Production, its Partner Skill also boosts your crop yield. Handily, this effect stacks — the more Prunelia you have, the greater your harvest. If you love working your fields, this Pal is practically essential.
Killamari in Palworld: Underrated worker and better glider
Location: Early-game dungeons (not in the overworld)
Killamari looks unassuming due to its small size and is probably ignored by many players. But early on you should give this purple tentacled monster a chance — it’s one of the best workers for basic tasks (Gathering, Transporting and Watering). It’s also nocturnal, which is always handy. It’s not much use in combat, but you should still bring it on expeditions: thanks to its Partner Skill, your glider is improved and will carry you for longer. Unlock the corresponding gloves at Technology Level 9.

Reindrix in Palworld: Cold-resistant mount for deserts
Location: Frostbound Mountain, southern Astral Mountain region
With a saddle at Level 29, you can ride Reindrix — perfect for exploring hot regions. It keeps you cool, letting you gallop across scorching landscapes without issue. You can also put its chill to work at your base to cool the surroundings. In combat, Reindrix is useful thanks to its Ice Crown Tackle. Charge into enemies and freeze them, so you don’t have to worry about counterattacks — especially handy in the mid-game when you’re expanding.
Beegarde in Palworld: Honey production, battle swarm and all-rounder
Location: Verdant Brook
Beegarde isn’t exactly underrated because you need it to produce Honey for Cake (Palworld Breeding Guide 2026: Breeding Farm, Egg Incubator and Cake) . But many forget it has more uses, making it a true all-rounder in Palworld. Beyond Honey, its Partner Skill boosts Elizabee’s stats — the more you have on the team, the better. A full squad of Beegarde and Elizabee can be downright dangerous. And as a regular worker at your base, Beegarde can cover lots of jobs, albeit only at Level 1.
Conclusion: Make clever use of underrated Palworld Pals
You don’t always have to focus on the Pals everyone else uses. There’s a huge variety of unique creatures, and some of them are easily underestimated. Ultimately it depends on what you want to achieve in the game and which Pals support you best. You’ll also need to find and capture the right ones — and maybe even breed them. So keep your eyes peeled and consider giving some love to Pals that don’t usually get it.
