Technology is arguably your most important upgrade path in Palworld, as it unlocks almost all of the game’s essential features. Whether you prefer catching Pals or building a base, this menu tab governs every aspect as well as your levelling system. You don’t have to do everything at once – pick what suits your playstyle. From better combat gear to decorative furniture, there’s a lot here. We’ll take a closer look at Palworld’s technology tree, how to earn points, and how to spend them effectively.

Palworld technology tree: features, levelling, and progression

Palworld technology tree, features, and game progression

In Palworld you can level up, which not only improves your combat stats but also grants Technology Points. Use these to open the relevant tab in the menu and familiarise yourself with the technologies.

As of January 2026, you can unlock technologies up to level 65. Each row offers a selection of items or features you can obtain. Items can cost between 1 and 5 points. There are also special items per row that require Ancient Technology Points.

Broadly, technologies fall into these categories:

  • Spheres for capturing
  • Base-building sets
  • Tools
  • Pal gear
  • Gliders
  • Weapons (primitive and modern)
  • Armour
  • Decorations

Earning and unlocking Technology Points in Palworld

Naturally, points are key, and you can earn them in several ways. They’re essential, especially for new players, to unlock technologies quickly. Many game features are tied to unlocking the relevant tech first.

You can earn points by:

  • Levelling up (6 points)
  • Discovering fast travel locations (1 point)
  • Technical Manuals (dungeons, chests, fishing, Anubis drop) (1 to 3 points)

You get Ancient Technology Points by defeating tower bosses. Some recipes can also be learned via Technical Manuals. You’ll need these ancient points for special items offered in certain level rows.
