Hytale is currently perfect for exploring its vast world and getting to know the different zones. You won’t just find new wildlife, ores, and resources out there, but also a host of different, procedurally generated structures. These are especially worth the journey and contain many valuable items you might otherwise miss. Some are also far larger than they first appear. From cities with a mix of friendly and hostile inhabitants to deep dungeons and abandoned harbours, Hytale offers plenty of structures to uncover.

Hytale Zone 1 guide: Best structures, dungeons, and loot

Hytale Zone 1 structures: Kweebec village, crypt, and mineshaft

Everything still looks peaceful here, with green meadows and forests. Don’t be fooled, though—there are already some dark secrets lurking that keen explorers are bound to stumble upon. Of course, the Forgotten Temple is one of the most important structures, but there’s more to find besides that!

  • Kweebec Village: Kweebecs are the adorable locals who have settled around large trees, and you’ll also meet them in the world of the Forgotten Temple. They wave at you cheerfully, and some will even trade with you. These villages are great because you can gather crops like carrots or cabbage as well as animals such as chickens to take with you.
  • Cursed Crypt: If you spot an ominous circle on the map, it will naturally catch your eye. It marks a graveyard, but it hides a big secret! The crypt leads far underground, with winding sections, jumping puzzles, and plenty of skeletons. At the very bottom, there’s even a boss fight waiting for you, and along the way you’ll find many treasure chests and riches.
  • Mineshaft: These rather inconspicuous houses don’t look like much from the outside, but a look into the depths tells a different story. Mines plunge extremely deep into the earth and even contain many ores that you’d rarely—or never—find in Zone 1! Mines and dig sites also appear in every other zone, with similarly sprawling tunnels.

Hytale Zone 2 Desert: Temples, labyrinths, and rare loot

Hytale Zone 2 Desert: labyrinth, temple ruins, and Scarak nests

The vast desert also holds many surprises and is certainly not for the faint-hearted. Sandstorms rage here too, making navigation more difficult. But once you get your bearings, you’ll discover many secret structures in Zone 2 that hold plenty of treasure.

  • Scarak Nests: These nests are part of the landscape, but they’re arguably the most annoying areas in the whole game. Watch out for both flying and scuttling insects, which can also poison you. On the plus side, you can gather lots of Chitin and venom sacs for crafting.
  • Labyrinth: Hytale also features a kind of desert temple, easy to spot thanks to its distinctive exterior. It, too, descends deep underground, with loads of treasure chests and plenty of rare items. Watch out for scorpions, which are also poisonous.
  • Temple Ruins: You’ll also find temple ruins that are now the home of skeletons. Nasty archers and even mages lie in wait, making an assault anything but easy. Proceed carefully to locate all the treasure and clear out the enemies.

Hytale Zone 3 Snow: Icebergs, Outlander posts, and harbours

Hytale Zone 3 Snow: iceberg camps, Outlander posts, and harbour

In the icy Zone 3, you’ll encounter a different set of structures with new enemies and varied architecture. Some are even abandoned, letting you explore them freely. That’s what makes Zone 3’s structures so unique—though you’ll still find enemies here and there.

  • Iceberg Camps: Among the currently abandoned sites are camps embedded in the icebergs around Zone 3. They look intimidating but are completely deserted. That’s precisely why they’re so enticing—there are loads of chests and crates to find, and no one to contest them.
  • Outlander Posts: Far more dangerous are the Outlanders, Zone 3’s exclusive enemies. They’ve built several structures, but their villages, outposts, and ritual sites are especially nasty. They’re easy to spot on the map and look menacing from afar. Fights are tough, but the rewards are worth it.
  • Abandoned Harbour: Less nerve-wracking are the harbour areas found along the zone’s edges. There you’ll find piers with houses and Viking ships, packed with chests and discoveries. Not as extensive as some other structures, but still worth a visit.

Hytale Zone 4 Devastated Lands: Volcanoes, skeleton villages, and loot

Hytale Zone 4 Devastated Lands: volcanoes and skeleton villages

You should only venture into the Devastated Lands later, once you have better equipment. The area teems with enemies and treacherous terrain. You’ll still find several structures here, though it becomes clear that life is scarce. The undead, however, thrive in this lava-scarred region.

  • Burnt Village: Not every settlement survives in a harsh region like Zone 4. You’ll come across plenty of abandoned and burnt villages on your travels, which are perfect for looting.
  • Volcano: Volcanoes are common on the islands of Zone 4, and it’s worth daring to take a closer look. Some of the vents hide real treasures, though they’re extremely difficult to reach. Be careful and avoid the lava to reach the bottom and carry off all that Gold.
  • Skeleton Village: These structures resemble burnt villages, but they’re not abandoned—they’re inhabited by skeletons. Their houses are larger and better built, and there’s more loot and a few secrets to uncover. For example, there are cellars with chests, as well as nasty mages who can kill you quickly. Caution is advised.

Conclusion: Explore Hytale with the best structures in each zone

Exploring Orbis is currently one of Hytale’s highlights—and this is only the first, fairly basic version of world generation. Every region offers different, varied structures just waiting to be explored and exploited. Some dungeons can keep you busy for well over an hour, with secret passages, branching paths, and even a few bosses.
