Enshrouded Skill Tree Guide: All skills, builds and tips

Enshrouded isn’t just a survival game; it also weaves in plenty of RPG elements. The extensive skill tree is one such feature you won’t find in most other survival titles. In Enshrouded, abilities can be crucial and will shape the playstyle you’re most interested in. With a wide range of weapons and options, you can build your character exactly as you like. That makes Enshrouded a complex game in which your choices in the skill tree can be decisive for success. We’ll take a closer look at all the options so you can pick the right skills.

Earning Enshrouded skill points: all sources

There are currently 149 points to earn, which you can invest anywhere in the tree. You can also mix different branches freely; there are no restrictions.

You can gain points from:

  • Shroud Roots (1 point / total 33 points)
  • Level-ups (2 points / total 68 points)
  • Elixir Wells (3 points / total 48 points)

Skills can grant new abilities, improve various stats, or unlock the path to further skills. They are split into three major categories, each with four branches. You are not locked to a single branch and can spend every point wherever you like. Some skills can cost up to 5 points. At your Flame Altar, you can refund points for runes if you’re not happy with your allocation. If you want to plan your build in advance, use the Skill Tree Planner or the Wiki for an interactive overview.

Core Enshrouded skills: must-picks for every build

In the centre of the tree are several abilities that aren’t tied to a specific class. They’re far from trivial, providing your character with foundational skills you can refine later. Some also connect directly to the surrounding branches, signalling how they can develop.

Be sure to grab Lumberjack and Mason early to harvest more resources right away. Sneak Attack and Merciless Attack are also very useful. Well Rested consistently gives you an extra buff after taking a break at your base.

Green branch of the Enshrouded skill tree: ranged and survival

At the top you’ll find the green branch, focused on ranged combat, survival skills and dexterity. It’s not only relevant for archers, but helpful for everyone playing Enshrouded. There are several highly useful abilities here that make your journey easier.

  • Survivor: Keep investing here to boost many of your core stats. It grants more stamina, health and mana and pairs nicely with the game’s food system to enhance your buffs.
  • Beastmaster: Bend nature to your will. These skills don’t just help against status effects like poison; they can also sic nearby animals on your enemies. It’s a niche playstyle not everyone will consider, but it can also help you avoid attacks from wolves and other beasts.
  • Ranger: As a bow user, this should be your main focus. You’ll find everything that increases damage and extends your range. Virtually every node here is a must-have if you prefer this style.
  • Assassin: More specialised, centring on critical damage and explosive arrows. Works well as a supplement.

Blue branch of the Enshrouded skill tree: magic and intelligence

Magical attacks with wands are one of Enshrouded’s coolest aspects and a favourite playstyle for many. You’ll also raise your intelligence, significantly strengthening your spells. Overall, this is an essential part of the skill tree for any spellcaster.

  • Trickster: Turn your foes into their own worst enemies by reflecting attacks and applying various buffs and debuffs. Not the strongest branch overall, but it has its niche uses.
  • Wizard: As a caster, this is your primary branch with all the key abilities. Choosing the right element for your spells and enhancing it is crucial. The options are fire, ice and lightning. Beyond that, expect a focus on damage via critical hits and the Shroud.
  • Healer: In multiplayer, having a support healer is a great idea. As the name implies, you’ll learn and improve healing spells. It’s not really necessary in solo play, but with friends it’s a huge help.
  • Battlemage: Play far more aggressively by chaining combos with regular melee attacks. These skills focus on wands and swift strikes, making this one of the best branches if you like to hit hard.

Red branch of the Enshrouded skill tree: melee and strength

The third major section focuses on classic melee combat, plus mobility and agility. With the different melee weapons you can lean into various damage types and tailor your character accordingly. Athletics is worthwhile for everyone.

  • Tank: Soak up far more damage and stay in the fight longer. This branch scales well with armour and is also useful in multiplayer, as some skills can affect multiple players, granting extra protection.
  • Warrior: If you’re a melee fighter, this is your bread and butter. Improve your damage and choose whether to favour blunt, slashing or piercing weapons. The points here focus primarily on damage and speed.
  • Barbarian: Built around slow, heavy attacks, mainly with two-handed weapons. Learn special moves, unleash shockwaves, or gain buffs for even stronger strikes.
  • Athlete: Versatile and packed with varied skills that boost jump attacks, stamina, strength and health. Not every node is equally important, but this branch is worth a look for all Enshrouded players.

Thanks to its complex skill tree, Enshrouded offers many ways to discover and refine your own playstyle. You’re not restricted to a single branch and can unlock each ability individually. Combine multiple attack types, buffs and enhancements to craft a unique character.
