Technologies are arguably your most important upgrades in Palworld, since they unlock nearly all essential features of the game. Whether you prefer catching Pals or building a base, this menu section governs every aspect — including your leveling system. You don’t have to focus on everything at once; pick what fits your playstyle. From better combat gear to decorative furniture, there’s a lot here. We’ll break down Palworld’s tech tree, how to earn points, and how to spend them efficiently.

Palworld tech tree: features, leveling, and progression

Palworld tech tree, features, and progression

In Palworld you can level up, which not only improves your combat stats, but also grants Technology Points. Use them to open the corresponding tab in the menu and familiarize yourself with the available technologies.

As of January 2026, you can unlock technologies up to Level 65. Each tier offers a selection of items or features you can acquire. Items can cost between 1 and 5 points. There are also special items per tier that require Ancient Technology Points.

Broadly, technologies fall into these categories:

  • Spheres for capturing
  • Base-building sets
  • Tools
  • Pal equipment
  • Gliders
  • Weapons (primitive and modern)
  • Armor
  • Decorations

Earning and unlocking Technology Points in Palworld

The key is, of course, earning points — which you can do in several ways. They’re essential, especially for new players, to unlock technologies quickly. Many features are tied to having unlocked their corresponding techs.

You can earn points by:

  • Leveling up (6 points)
  • Discovering fast travel locations (1 point)
  • Technology Manuals (dungeons, chests, fishing, Anubis drop) (1 to 3 points)

You get Ancient Technology Points by defeating tower bosses. Some recipes can also be learned via Technology Manuals. You’ll need these ancient points for special items offered in certain level tiers.
