As in many other survival games, food is essential in Palworld. You don’t just have to feed yourself—you also need to take care of your Pals. Thankfully, Palworld offers a wide variety of foods and recipes to choose from, and many of them look and sound downright delicious. The key is finding the right balance between crafting effort and how much they fill you up, which ultimately determines the best recipes. Below, we cover all the cooking fundamentals you need to know in Palworld in 2026, plus the best recipes and why they’re so practical.

Palworld food: Manage hunger, satiety, and mood

Palworld food guide: Manage Pal hunger and mood

Food plays a major role in Palworld because eating serves multiple purposes. The cooking system exists for good reason. Both you and your Pals need regular meals to fight off hunger and stay in a good mood.

You can see your own hunger bar at the bottom left, under your health. It’s the yellow bar marked with a bread icon. The hungrier you are, the slower you move. Your attacks also get weaker, so never head into a fight on an empty stomach. At 0 hunger you also lose HP down to 1.

For Pals, it works similarly, but each Pal has a Hunger rating. Smaller, lighter Pals naturally need less food than larger, stronger ones. You can check a Pal’s hunger in the Paldex or its stats, indicated by the number of bread icons (1 to 10). Pals you’ve captured have their own bar in their menu that goes down while working. All negative hunger effects also apply to Pals.

Pal sanity and hunger values in Palworld

Pals also have sanity you need to maintain. Hard work drains it, so give your creatures a break now and then—and don’t forget the right food. Feed them regularly to keep them happy. Every food item has two values: Satiety and Sanity.

Palworld cooking stations and cooling: From campfire to large kitchen

Palworld cooking stations: Campfire, Cooking Pot, Electric Kitchen, and Large Kitchen

To cook, you’ll first need the right equipment. Technologies you unlock as you progress open up increasingly complex recipes that provide more satiety for you and more sanity for your Pals. Most stations require a Pal with Kindling; the Electric Kitchen requires Electricity.

Cooking stations at a glance:

  • Level 2: Campfire. Unlocked right at the start and ideal for simple recipes.
  • Level 17: Cooking Pot. Lets you make more complex dishes that truly fill you and your Pals. Perfect for the mid-game.
  • Level 41: Electric Kitchen. Even better cooking, but it requires power.
  • Level 49: Large Kitchen. The highest tier of cooking in Palworld. A big stove that allows multiple Pals to cook and assist.

A key mechanic is that food doesn’t stay fresh forever. In your regular inventory, each item has a countdown showing when it will spoil. Counter this by building Cooler Boxes. At Level 13 you unlock the first variant, and at Level 38 a Refrigerator. How long food stays fresh depends on Cooling work suitability—use Pals with this attribute. Penking, for example, is incredibly handy.

You’ll also need a Feed Box to automatically feed Pals at your base. You unlock the first version at Level 4, but remember food can still spoil there. A Refrigerated Feed Box unlocks at Level 51.

Palworld ingredients: Grow, gather, buy, and drops

Palworld ingredients: Farming, gathering, buying, and Ranch drops

To start cooking, you’ll need the right ingredients. Depending on the dish, you may need one up to five ingredients. From meat and vegetables to other products, there are many combinations for tasty recipes.

You can get ingredients by:

  • Breeding and butchering Pals
  • separate drops from Pals on the Ranch
  • buying from vendors
  • gathering around the island
  • farming on a field at your base
  • processing certain resources, such as wheat into flour

Palworld best recipes: Top dishes for satiety and sanity

Best Palworld recipes for satiety and sanity

To wrap up, here are the five best recipes to cook for you and your Pals. Treat them as guidelines—what’s best depends on which ingredients you can access. Remember that every recipe restores both hunger and sanity, so you can decide what food suits your situation best.

1. Salad recipe

  • Satiety: 84
  • Sanity: 11
  • Ingredients: Tomato + Lettuce

A simple recipe that’s one of the best choices both early and late game. You can either grow or buy both veggies, which makes it a great value despite the lower numbers.

2. Pizza recipe

  • Satiety: 184
  • Sanity: 23
  • Ingredients: Flour + Red Berries + Milk + Tomatoes

You can only make this in the Electric Kitchen, but it’s an easy, well-rounded mid-game staple. All ingredients are simple to farm or produce. And who can say no to a good pizza?

3. Minestrone recipe

  • Satiety: 146
  • Sanity: 18
  • Ingredients: Tomato + Carrot + Onion + Potato

Minestrone is an Italian vegetable soup you can cook in Palworld. It’s great because you can grow all the ingredients in your fields and you don’t need meat, making it a vegetarian option.

4. Mozzarina Hamburger

  • Satiety: 162
  • Sanity: 20
  • Ingredients: Mozzarina Meat + Flour + Lettuce

A very strong recipe, though you’ll have to cull a few Pals for meat. It can be worth it: the hamburgers are highly filling and they also help with your Pals’ sanity.

5. Grilled Lamball

  • Satiety: 147
  • Sanity: 18
  • Ingredients: Lamball Leg + Lettuce

Another straightforward dish that also requires sacrificing Pals. Since the only other ingredient is lettuce, it’s easy to make and provides similar values to Minestrone.
