In Palworld, you can not only catch Pals on Palpagos Island, but also breed them. There are several unique mechanics that set breeding apart from other games. For example, you can combine different Pals to obtain unique monsters. At the same time, breeding is essential if you want the best stats. You can unlock the basics fairly early to start filling your Paldex and hatching strong Pals. We’ll walk through every aspect so you can breed Pals easily and select the best stats.

Palworld breeding: Basics with Breeding Farm, Incubator, and Cake

To breed Pals in Palworld, you’ll need a few basic technologies. Of course, you’ll also need your own base, where you can run your breeding operation smoothly. You unlock the actual ability to breed your Pals at Level 19. There, you can spend two technology points to unlock the Breeding Farm.

That’s not all you need, though. You’ll also have to make cake and unlock incubators to get started. Fortunately, you can prepare both before Level 19.

Making cake in Palworld for breeding

Make cake for Palworld breeding with berries, flour, eggs, milk, and honey

Cake is required for your Pals to reproduce in the Breeding Farm. On the right side of the farm there’s a chest where you must place the cake. Otherwise, your Pals won’t do anything.

You’ll need several ingredients for cake:

  • Red Berries: Gather them by hand, have Pals grow them in a Berry Plantation from Level 5, or get them as Pal drops.
  • Flour: Grow Wheat in a Wheat Plantation from Level 15 and process it in the Mill from Level 15.
  • Eggs: Obtain by keeping Chikipi in a Ranch.
  • Milk: Obtain from Mozzarina in a Ranch.
  • Honey: Produced by Beegarde in a Ranch.

Alternatively, you can buy all ingredients from merchants in Palworld. You can even capture merchants and station them at your base so you always have access to their inventory. In that case, you’ll need to farm gold to regularly afford new ingredients.

To bake cake, you need the Cooking Pot at Level 17 and a Pal with the Kindling work suitability. Foxparks can handle this early on. If you can make cake, you’ll be well prepared for breeding from Level 19 onward.

Using the Palworld Breeding Farm and getting eggs

Use the Breeding Farm in Palworld and obtain eggs

Build a Breeding Farm at your base and assign two Pals. You can do this by picking up Pals and throwing them into the farm, or by using the Monitoring Stand from Level 14 to assign Pals directly to tasks and workstations.

Breeding only works if you place one male and one female Pal in the farm. If you use two Pals of the same species, the resulting egg will hatch into that species. You can also combine different species, which can lead to surprising results.

Your assigned Pals will start reproducing. We also recommend keeping a Braloha at your base. Its Partner Skill reduces the time until an egg is produced. After a while, eggs will appear in the Breeding Farm, which you then need to hatch in separate incubators. A farm can hold a maximum of 20 eggs, so make sure it doesn’t fill up.

Hatching Palworld eggs: Using the incubator correctly

Efficiently hatch eggs in the Palworld incubator

Eggs collected from the Breeding Farm or found in the wild must be hatched to welcome your new Pal into the world. Generally, the bigger the egg, the stronger the Pal inside tends to be. There are normal, large, and huge eggs. The larger the egg, the longer it takes to hatch.

You unlock your first Egg Incubator at Level 7 with an ancient technology point. The incubator doesn’t need power, but different eggs prefer different conditions to hatch faster. Some prefer colder, others warmer environments. Check the incubator to see which temperature is needed and add heat or cold nearby to speed things up.

You’ll unlock additional incubators later:

  • Level 36: Electric Egg Incubator. Regulates conditions when powered.
  • Level 47: Large Incubator. No power required and provides 10 slots.
  • Level 60: Large Electric Egg Incubator. Powered and provides 10 slots.

Benefits of Palworld breeding: Pal combos and passive skills

Pal combinations and passive skills in Palworld breeding

So why bother? Breeding Pals has many benefits, especially for long-term players. It lets you get the most out of your team by targeting the best passive skills.

In general, breeding has two main goals:

  • Pure breeding: Pass the best passive skills to the children, create a breeding chain, and get progressively stronger Pals.
  • Mixed breeding: Breed Pals that are hard to find or catch to fill your Paldex.

Breeding with two identical parents is perfect for passing down strong stats. You can build a long chain by always putting your best new Pals back into the Breeding Farm to inherit good passives over time. It’s also useful to condense extra Pals at the Pal Condenser to transfer and power up passives.

Combining two different Pals, on the other hand, is useful when you want to breed rare Pals. Parent combinations can vary widely. For a detailed overview, we recommend the Pal breeding calculator, since there are many combinations.

Which Pals you should breed depends on your playstyle. Some Pals are perfect for combat, others shine when working at your base. You can tailor breeding to your needs.

Conclusion: Palworld breeding yields powerful and rare Pals

Breeding new Pals in Palworld is an important mechanic that delivers stronger and rarer Pals. You can inherit passive skills or combine two different Pals to get entirely new ones. The system is flexible and deep, making it easy to align with your progression and playstyle.
