Enshrouded: Wake of the Water – 8 Tips, Tricks & Secrets

The new “Wake of the Water” update adds not only a completely new region, but also many new mechanics, items, and blocks. Enshrouded is now even more complex and hides a few secrets you may not know yet. Today, we’ll take a closer look at exactly those, because some of these features are too good to miss. Explore the dense jungle and ancient ruins of Veilwater Basin, or progress far enough in quests to unlock many new possibilities.

1. Enshrouded: Wake of the Water – Brew coffee and discover recipes

Brewing coffee in Enshrouded: Wake of the Water with recipes and a mill

Many can’t live without coffee, and now this tasty hot beverage is in Enshrouded too. Head to Stillwater Bay to find both the Coffee Brewery and the Drum Roaster. Make your way to one of the large towers and break through the roof. You’ll find both machines directly below.

You can find three recipes in Stillwater Bay:

  • Black Coffee: Stamina + Melee
  • Latte: Stamina + Magic
  • Sweet Mocha: Stamina + Ranged

You’ll find coffee beans all over Veilwater Basin, and you can grow them like any other crop. Learn more in our harvesting guide: (Enshrouded Farming Guide: Grow Crops, Soils, & Update 7) . Roast the beans and grind them into coffee grounds in the mill. From that, you can brew delicious coffee.

2. Underwater in Enshrouded: Find and use flippers

Flippers for underwater adventures in Enshrouded: Wake of the Water

You can now explore underwater areas in Enshrouded and find rare treasures and items there. But without the right gear, you won’t get far. At the top of your arsenal should be flippers, which let you move better underwater and make you much more agile. You’ll also have more stamina, which is very handy.

You’ll receive the recipe sooner or later from an Angler quest, but you can search for them beforehand. Go to Goldrock Settle and head deep into the ruins until you reach the Shroud. There’s a grate with a chest containing the flippers behind it.

3. Enshrouded farming: Find rice and grow it properly

Rice is another new crop you can grow in Enshrouded. It works a bit differently from most other plants because it must be constantly submerged. You’ll find rice plants in Orville and can then multiply the seeds at your base.

We recommend building a kind of terrace for rice and letting the water flow from one level to the next. It not only looks great, it’s also very practical. You can then cook the harvested rice and use it in recipes like sushi, curry, or fried rice.

4. Enshrouded fishing: Get the Lucky Rod early

Fishing is probably one of the best new pastimes in Enshrouded. Read more in our guide: (Enshrouded Fishing Guide: Bait, Rods, Fish & Locations) . You can catch fish to cook into tasty meals, and you can also pull rare treasures out of the water. But that only works with the right rod, which normally takes a while to acquire.

Enter the Lucky Rod, which you can find early and use for your fishing adventures. You’ll find it in the suspicious Drak’dal ruins. The treasure is marked with a large red X on the ground between the ruins and is hard to miss. Dig there to find the rod in a chest. Later, you can also craft one yourself once you’ve completed enough quests from the Angler.

5. Enshrouded mill and waterwheel: How to use them correctly

Mill with waterwheel in Enshrouded for coffee grounds and bone meal

We talked about coffee in the first tip, and the mill is an important tool for that. It can also do more, including processing bones into bone meal. You can unlock the mill by completing the relevant quest for the Alchemist. After that, you’ll receive the millstone and the recipe.

The mill can only be powered with an additional force. That’s where the new water mechanics come in. You need to set up a waterwheel to drive the millstone. Water flows from above, turning the wheel, which in turn powers the nearby mill.

6. Enshrouded diving: Find the diving helmet

For diving, you’ll want not just flippers but also a diving helmet. It gives you +60 oxygen and reduces the Wet status effect. Another benefit is that the diving helmet emits light, so you can use it in dark places, too.

You can find it in the Drak’dal Temple by searching for a large pile of gold that’s underwater. Search the corpse lying there and you’ll find the diving helmet. If you take on the Angler’s quests, you’ll also come across it and receive a crafting recipe for it.

7. Enshrouded building: New and rare building materials

Rare building materials in Enshrouded like Drak Temple blocks, bamboo, and limestone

Like many previous updates, Wake of the Water brings new building blocks. Some are easy to find, including bamboo and limestone, while others are much harder to track down. For passionate and creative builders, these are essential.

Find rare materials:

  • Drak Temple Block: Dive through Drak ruins to find the recipe.
  • Drak Temple Roof: In the same Drak temple, hidden behind gold coins.
  • Red Carpet: In a cave next to one of the watchtowers in Stillwater Bay.
  • Shell Limestone Roof: In a chest in the small village of Dewdrop Farm.

8. Enshrouded mining: Craft the mining helmet and mine faster

Finally, let’s look at the mining helmet, a helpful item you should definitely craft. It’s not just a light source, similar to the diving helmet from tip 6, it also grants buffs. You’ll have more stamina and can mine stone and metals faster.

To unlock the recipe at the Blacksmith, you first need a mill—see tip 5. There, use Gleam Roots to produce the corresponding dust. You’ll need that to craft the mining helmet. You’ll also need Capybara bristles, steel bars, aquamarine, and glowing underwater plants.

Conclusion: Explore Enshrouded – Wake of the Water

Of course, this is just a fraction of what you can discover in Wake of the Water. The many new mechanics open up fresh approaches to crafting, cooking, and combat. With help from NPCs and quests, you’ll eventually find these on your own.

Rent your own Enshrouded server with us and jump straight into the new update. Exploring together with friends is even more fun. You can play with up to 16 people on a single server. Fight your way through the Drak ruins or go diving to find rare items.
