Enshrouded Skill Tree Guide: All Abilities, Builds, and Tips

Enshrouded isn’t just a survival game—it also weaves in many RPG elements. The extensive skill tree is one of those features you won’t find in most other survival titles. In Enshrouded, abilities can become extremely important and define the playstyle you enjoy most. With a wide range of weapons and options, you can shape your character however you like. That makes Enshrouded a deep game where your choices in the skill tree can be crucial to your success. Let’s take a closer look at all the options so you can pick the right skills.

Earning Enshrouded skill points: every source

There are currently a total of 149 points to earn and spend anywhere in the tree. You can also mix different branches—there are no restrictions.

You can get points from:

  • Shroud Roots (1 point / total 33 points)
  • Level-ups (2 points / total 68 points)
  • Elixir Wells (3 points / total 48 points)

Skills can grant new abilities, improve various stats, or unlock access to further skills. They’re divided into three major categories, each with four branches. You aren’t locked into a single branch—you can place every point wherever you want. Some skills can cost up to 5 points. At your Flame Altar, you can reset points in exchange for runes if you don’t like your allocation. If you want to plan ahead, use the Skill Tree Planner or the wiki for an interactive overview.

Core Enshrouded skills: must-picks for every build

In the center of the tree you’ll find several abilities that aren’t tied to a specific class. They’re far from trivial and give your character foundational skills you can refine as you progress. Some of them also connect into the outer branches, pointing toward how they can develop.

Be sure to grab Woodcutter and Mason here to harvest more resources right away. Sneak Attack and Merciless Attack are also very useful. Well Rested consistently grants you a buff after you take a break at your base.

Green branch in the Enshrouded skill tree: ranged and survival

At the top you’ll find the green branch, focused on ranged combat, survival skills, and dexterity. It isn’t just for archers—it’s helpful for anyone playing Enshrouded. There are several highly useful abilities here that make the game easier.

  • Survivor: It’s worth investing here regularly to improve many of your stats. You gain more stamina, health, and mana. It also synergizes nicely with the game’s food system to enhance your buffs.
  • Beastmaster: As a Beastmaster, you bend nature to your will. Skills here not only help against status effects like poison but can also send nearby animals to attack your enemies. It’s a niche playstyle that not everyone will consider, but it can also help you avoid wolf and other animal attacks.
  • Ranger: If you’re an archer, this is your main focus. You’ll find everything that boosts damage and increases range. Nearly every point here is a must if you prefer this playstyle.
  • Assassin: More specialized, centering on critical damage and explosive arrows. It works well as a supportive add-on.

Blue branch in the Enshrouded skill tree: magic and intelligence

Magical attacks with wands are one of Enshrouded’s coolest aspects and a popular playstyle. You’ll also boost Intelligence, which significantly strengthens your spells. Overall, it’s an essential part of the skill tree for any caster.

  • Trickster: Turn your enemies into weapons and use their attacks against them. You can reflect attacks and apply various buffs and debuffs. It isn’t necessarily the most useful branch overall, but it has its niche.
  • Mage: This is your primary tree as a caster, with all the key abilities. Choosing the right element for your spells and amplifying it is especially important. Elements include fire, ice, and lightning. Beyond that, this branch focuses on damage through critical hits and the Shroud.
  • Healer: If you play multiplayer, having a support healer is a great idea. As the name implies, you can learn and improve healing spells here. It isn’t really necessary for solo play, but with friends it’s a big help.
  • Battlemage: Lets you play far more aggressively and combo spells with regular melee. The skills focus on wands and fast attacks—one of the best branches if you like to hit hard.

  • Tank: You can absorb much more damage and stay in the fight longer. This branch scales well with armor. It’s also great in multiplayer, as some skills can affect multiple players and offer them more protection.
  • Warrior: If you’re a melee fighter, this is your bread and butter. You’ll boost damage and pick whether you mainly use blunt, slashing, or piercing weapons. The points focus primarily on damage and speed.
  • Barbarian: Geared toward slow, heavy attacks, primarily with two-handed weapons. You’ll learn special strikes, emit shockwaves, or gain buffs for even stronger blows.
  • Athlete: Versatile, with various skills that improve things like jump attacks, stamina, strength, and health. Not every point is equally important, but it’s a branch worth exploring for every Enshrouded player.
